About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Typically, 8–12 years of experience is expected; at least 4 years focused on data analysis and business intelligence is preferred.
  • Expert command of RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, LPG, Cypher, and GQL is required; the ability to round-trip data between these approaches without semantic drift is a bonus.
  • Experience building ontology-based knowledge graphs and understanding graph persistence and virtualization options and their tradeoffs is required; experience beyond R2RML, including NoSQL, APIs, and unstructured data, is a plus.
  • A strong perspective on graph modularization, versioning, and temporality is required.
  • A solid understanding of AI-to-knowledge-graph integration patterns, including MCP, Graph RAG, AI-assisted identity resolution and entity/relationship extraction, hybrid knowledge graph/vector retrieval, text-to-query, and agentic workflows, is required.
  • Familiarity with knowledge graph vendor solutions and open-source alternatives is required; broader awareness of data catalogs and semantic layers is a plus.
  • Understanding of data entitlements, licensing, and usage tracking is required.
  • Experience in data engineering and building and scaling production-grade pipelines using Python, Spark, and SQL, with a strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and orchestration tools, is required.
  • The candidate must be able to design and operate high-volume, resilient pipelines across batch, streaming, and distributed environments.
  • Experience designing data transformation and normalization layers, including schema evolution and backward compatibility, is required.
  • Expertise with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, and Databricks, lakehouse architectures, and API-based data integration is required.
  • Strong capabilities in performance tuning, cost optimization, and implementing data quality, monitoring, logging, and lineage frameworks are required.
  • Domain experience with financial datasets such as market data, pricing, reference data, portfolio holdings, transactions, and corporate actions, and familiarity with vendors such as Bloomberg, ICE, and MSCI, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Ontology and Knowledge Architecture team to perform entity resolution, map source data to IDS entities, relationships, and attributes, and integrate data into the enterprise knowledge graph.
  • Design and build scalable pipelines to ingest and process data from internal platforms and external vendors across batch, streaming, and near-real-time patterns.
  • Transform APIs, flat files, streaming data, and unstructured content into clean, standardized datasets aligned to IDS entity models.
  • Develop reusable frameworks to normalize identifiers, symbology, units, hierarchies, and event data such as corporate actions and transactions.
  • Implement data quality controls for completeness, accuracy, consistency, schema validation, anomaly detection, lineage, provenance, and traceability from source systems through IDS to downstream products.
  • Support multi-vendor data ingestion, comparison, and reconciliation, including source prioritization, hierarchy logic, and coverage and quality analytics.
  • Build modular, reusable, cloud-native pipelines optimized for scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate across functions to translate business and data requirements into production-ready solutions and support downstream distribution through APIs, data products, and client platforms.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree, preferably in statistics or statistical analysis, is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience focused on data analysis and business intelligence is preferred.
  • The ability to round-trip data between RDF/OWL/SHACL/SPARQL and LPG/Cypher/GQL while avoiding semantic drift is a bonus.
  • Experience beyond R2RML, including NoSQL, APIs, and unstructured data, is a plus.
  • Broader awareness of data catalogs and semantic layers is a plus.

BNY embeds AI everywhere but won't say how much it spends of its $4B tech budget

BNY, which says it is embedding artificial intelligence (AI) across its business, declined to say how much it spends on the technology. Chief executive officer Robin Vince told analysts on its third-quarter earnings call that the bank is not breaking out the figure, and that doing so could be "counterproductive." Vince said AI is generating returns. About $4 billion of BNY's $13 billion annual expense base goes to technology. The bank now has "400-plus" AI solutions in production, up from 117 a year ago. BNY reported revenue of $5.7 billion, up 12%, and net income of $1.7 billion, up 16%. Earnings per share were $2.34, against a consensus estimate of $2.27. It raised its 2026 revenue growth outlook to 12%-13%.
