- Fellowship in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or an equivalent qualification determined by the Department of Psychiatry.
- Experience managing patients with concurrent psychiatric and addiction problems.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
- Promote excellence in clinical academic services for patients within moderate-intensity RASP teams at the Abbie J. Lane Building and The Bridge.
- Provide oversight of residents who are members of the teams and provide input to team managers and the Section Head on strategic planning, quality assurance and improvement, and resource allocation.
- Promote optimal interprofessional functioning of acute services through effective collegial co-leadership and role modeling.
- Ensure productive operation between RASP and acute inpatient services by providing coverage for vacation or unexpected psychiatrist absences.
- Attend acute-services section meetings and monthly and biannual Department of Psychiatry meetings.
- Provide residents and team members with support, guidance, and teaching in patient management, including timely remote access when not physically on the unit.
- Provide leadership to enhance collegiality among units and standardize clinical and educational activities across acute services.
- Collaborate with Clinical Academic Leaders, Department of Psychiatry leaders, and community partners to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide direct and indirect clinical care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Provide clinical desk-side teaching and didactic education.
- Perform clinical administration.
- Participate in on-call service.
- Supervise junior staff, including residents and clinical clerks.
- Support research as needed and conduct research if desired.
- Provide didactic teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education levels.
- Participate in research and scholarly innovation, with protected research time possible by agreement with Department of Psychiatry research and executive leadership.
- A sufficient track record in mental health research may qualify the candidate for protected research time, subject to agreement with Department of Psychiatry research and executive leadership.
