Cash-rich stocks: Clean Harbors worth watching, UPS and GE HealthCare best avoided

StockStory has named one cash-generating stock worth a closer look and two it would avoid, arguing that strong cash flow does not always mean strong returns. Clean Harbors (NYSE:CLH) is the pick. Its revenue grew 13.5% a year over five years, and earnings per share rose 21.6% a year, helped by share buybacks. Its free cash flow margin is 8.8%, up 5.9 percentage points over five years. The shares trade at $320.91, or 30.7x forward earnings. StockStory would steer clear of United Parcel Service (NYSE:UPS) and GE HealthCare (NASDAQ:GEHC). UPS sales were flat over five years while earnings per share fell 8.4% a year. GE HealthCare faces projected sales growth of 4.4% and a 1.7-point drop in adjusted operating margin.

GE HealthCare launches five-institution global trial of StarGuide GX theranostics SPECT/CT system

GE HealthCare has launched a clinical evaluation program for StarGuide GX, its next-generation digital 4D SPECT/CT system. Five institutions across three continents will take part. They are Hadassah Medical Center and Rambam Health Care Campus in Israel, Mayo Clinic in the US, Oncopole Claudius Regaud in France, and Peking University First Hospital in China. Each will assess image quality, quantitative performance, dynamic imaging, and workflow, and give feedback to guide the system's development. StarGuide GX uses dual-sided cadmium zinc telluride detectors and a dual-collimator design meant to remove manual collimator changes. It also uses NVIDIA RTX accelerated computing for image reconstruction. The system received CE Mark in November 2025 and is on sale in select EU states. Its US Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance is pending.

GE HealthCare launches LOGIQ Focus ultrasound with AI tools, 26% faster scans

One of them, Auto Preset Assistant, detects the anatomy being scanned and activates the matching preset, saving up to five clicks per exam. In a third-party study, 90% of participants rated its image quality as excellent. The system was 26% faster than the predicate system. LOGIQ Focus is 510(k) cleared and CE Marked. GE HealthCare expects it and several other new products to add 1% to 2% to revenue growth, following more than $5 billion in innovation investment since 2023.

GE HealthCare to acquire SOFIE Biosciences for $945M to expand US radiopharmaceutical supply

GE HealthCare has agreed to acquire SOFIE Biosciences, a US-based contract manufacturer of PET radiopharmaceuticals, for $945 million in cash. The deal with seller Trilantic North America is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. SOFIE Biosciences operates 15 contract manufacturing sites with 21 cyclotrons across the US, plus a theranostics-focused development and manufacturing facility. The acquisition establishes GE HealthCare's presence in the time-critical "final mile" of US PET radiopharmaceutical supply. The PET radiopharmaceutical market is expanding rapidly with approximately 20 PET radiotracers and over 30 radiotherapeutics currently under development. SOFIE Biosciences' portfolio includes a Phase III FAPI asset for which GE HealthCare already holds non-US rights. GE HealthCare estimates the transaction will be accretive to revenue growth, earnings margin, and earnings per share in the first full year of ownership.

AsiaMedic first in ASEAN to deploy GE HealthCare's MR31 deep learning MRI platform

AsiaMedic has become the first site in ASEAN to implement MR31, GE HealthCare's latest generation MRI platform featuring deep learning technology. The Singapore-based imaging centre is among the earliest adopters in Asia Pacific. MR31 incorporates deep learning technologies that reduce scan times and enable detailed examinations across neurological, musculoskeletal and nerve imaging. Sonic DL for 3D delivers up to 12 times scan acceleration, reducing examination times across brain, spine, orthopaedic and body scans. The platform also supports high-quality prostate MRI imaging. AIR Recon DL Phase Correction provides improved visualisation of clinically significant lesions, whilst high-resolution T2-weighted imaging aids lesion localisation for prostate fusion biopsy planning. Shorter scan times mean reduced patient time in scanners and may help decrease repeat examinations caused by movement.
