Requirements
  • Sufficient education to obtain a valid California Registered Nurse license.
  • Six months to one year of experience as a Clinical Registered Nurse I at MarinHealth Medical Center, or the clinical experience specified in the appropriate unit-specific job description addendum.
  • A California Registered Nurse license is required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required at hire.
  • Integrative Agitation Management certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all items of the Staff Nurse Skills Criteria at the conclusion of the probationary period.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and delegation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, other teams, physicians, and departments.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and follow English verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in the assigned service area.
  • Ability to comply with patient health information privacy requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Required measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations as a condition of employment; medical or religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, direct, and appropriately delegate to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care.
  • Provide patient assessment and develop and implement care plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and modify the care plan as needed.
  • Direct emergency interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, team members, and others to optimally manage patient care.
  • Act as a patient advocate when necessary.
  • Formulate nursing diagnoses through observation of the patient's physical condition and behavior and interpretation of information from the patient, others, and the health team.
  • Formulate age-specific care plans in collaboration with patients to provide safe, comfortable, hygienic, preventive, and restorative nursing care.
  • Perform essential nursing skills, explain health treatments to patients and families, and teach patients and families how to address health needs.
  • Evaluate care through observation of patients' conditions and behaviors, signs and symptoms of illness, treatment reactions, and communication with patients and team members.
  • Initiate actions to improve care or change decisions that conflict with the patient's interests or wishes, and give patients opportunities to make informed healthcare decisions.
  • Supervise, direct, and delegate appropriately to care team members based on their legal scopes of practice, preparation, and capabilities.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise by serving as a clinical expert, role model, and clinical and educational resource to the team, patients, and families.
  • Mentor and assist in the training and development of less experienced staff members when needed.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability for nursing practice.
