An Illinois Emergency Medical Technician certification and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification are required.
A valid Illinois driver's license is required, with no suspensions or revocations within the past three years and no specified serious driving convictions within the past five years.
Completion of an electrocardiogram course is required.
Knowledge of specialized equipment used for procedures approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and emergency medical services is required.
The ability to function calmly and efficiently during emergency or crisis situations is required.
Leadership capabilities are required.
Motor coordination and finger dexterity sufficient to operate an ambulance and equipment safely are required.
The role requires the ability to lift 100 pounds or more and to perform standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling.
The role requires working indoors and outdoors with exposure to extreme weather conditions.
Responsibilities
Administer pre-hospital advanced and/or basic life support based on licensure, under the direction of a licensed physician and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and Illinois Department of Public Health regulations.
Assess patients' age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care using principles of growth and development.
Perform other assigned roles and responsibilities.

Description
Administers pre-hospital care, Advanced, and/or Basic Life Support based on licensure for patients under the direction of licensed physician, in accordance with established hospital policies/procedures and within the Illinois Department of Public Health regulations.
Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalency.
Illinois Emergency Medical Technician and CPR.
Illinois drivers license with no suspensions/revocations within the past three years, or any convictions for reckless driving, speeding (in excess of 15mph over the limit), or driving under the influence within the past five years.
EKG course required.
Related experience preferred.
