Cardinal Health bets on At-Home Solutions growth.

Cardinal Health bets on At-Home Solutions growth. Cardinal Health (CAH) is positioning its At-Home Solutions business to capture the continued shift toward home-based healthcare, particularly through diabetes and other specialized care needs, according to a Zacks Investment Research analysis describing Cardinal Health At-Home Solutions growth as a central pillar of the company's near-term strategy. How management frames this Cardinal Health At-Home Solutions growth opportunity. Management described at-Home as a fast-growing yet fragmented market, creating opportunities to scale through both organic investments and acquisitions. The business delivered strong operating performance in the fourth quarter, supported by investments in distribution capacity, technology and automation, with a nearly 99% fill rate and its best-ever quarter for on-time departures. Why fragmentation creates acquisition opportunity. Describing the at-home care market as fragmented signals that no single company currently dominates the space, giving Cardinal Health room to consolidate smaller regional or specialized providers into its existing distribution infrastructure rather than competing purely on organic growth alone. The Diabetes Supply integration behind this Cardinal Health At-Home Solutions growth strategy. The integration of Advanced Diabetes Supply, or ADS, is becoming an important component of this strategy. Cardinal Health said the integration was progressing ahead of schedule on synergies, while recent investments in home care are strengthening the framework established through ADS. The company is also scaling through the completed acquisition of Strive Medical and the announced acquisition of AdaptHealth's Diabetes Health business. Why these acquisitions reinforce a single strategic focus. Concentrating multiple acquisitions specifically within diabetes and related home care supply chains suggests Cardinal Health is deliberately building depth in one clinical category rather than diversifying broadly across unrelated home health service lines. Cardinal Health's broader ecosystem connectivity within this At-Home Solutions growth push. Beyond distribution, Cardinal Health is building connectivity across the healthcare ecosystem. Its continued care pathway program simplifies diabetes supply management for both pharmacies and patients, allowing the company to extend its role beyond traditional product distribution. Financial targets for fiscal 2027. For fiscal 2027, management expects the Other growth businesses, which include At-Home Solutions, to deliver 11% to 13% revenue growth and 15% to 18% profit growth. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Cardinal Health's fiscal 2027 earnings implies an 11.5% rise from the year-ago reported number. How competitors are positioned alongside this Cardinal Health At-Home Solutions growth trend. BrightSpring Health Services is expanding its at-home footprint through a platform spanning home health, hospice, personal care and home-based primary care, with Provider Services revenues increasing 30% in the second quarter, led by 51% Home Health Care revenue growth supported by census gains, de novo expansion and contributions from Amedisys and LHC branches. Addus HomeCare is expanding primarily through Personal Care, with revenues rising 6.8% in the second quarter, and has expanded into Indiana through HomeCourt Home Care while agreeing to acquire another Indianapolis-area provider. Why this competitive backdrop matters. The presence of well-capitalized competitors like BrightSpring and Addus, each pursuing their own acquisition-driven growth strategies within adjacent home care segments, suggests Cardinal Health's at-home push is occurring within an increasingly active consolidation environment across the broader home-based care industry. Cardinal Health's stock performance and valuation within this report. Shares of CAH have gained 7.1% so far this year compared with the industry's 2% growth. Cardinal Health trades at a forward price-to-earnings of 17.1X, above the industry average, though lower than its five-year high of 22.19X. The company carries a Value Score of A and a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). What this rating signals. A Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) indicates the firm's analysts view CAH as likely to perform roughly in line with the broader market rather than significantly outperforming or underperforming it, a more neutral assessment than the stock's above-average year-to-date gain might otherwise suggest. What this Cardinal Health At-Home Solutions growth strategy means going forward. With the Strive Medical acquisition already completed and the AdaptHealth Diabetes Health deal still pending, Cardinal Health's near-term ability to hit its stated 11% to 13% revenue growth target for its Other growth businesses segment will depend partly on how smoothly these acquisitions integrate alongside the already-underway ADS synergies. Given the competitive activity from BrightSpring and Addus HomeCare in adjacent home care segments, Cardinal Health's success in the fragmented at-home market may depend on how effectively it differentiates its diabetes-focused strategy from these broader-service competitors. What to watch going forward. As Cardinal Health moves toward closing its AdaptHealth Diabetes Health acquisition, investors will likely watch whether the company's fiscal 2027 guidance holds up and whether its Hold rating shifts as more integration results become available. Given the broader industry trend of consolidation across home health, hospice, and personal care reflected in BrightSpring's and Addus's own acquisition activity, this Cardinal Health At-Home Solutions growth strategy may continue to be judged against how well its diabetes-focused, distribution-centered approach performs relative to peers pursuing broader home-based care platforms. BrightSpring Health Services beats Q2 expectations with 23% revenue growth to $3.87B

BrightSpring Health Services exceeded Wall Street expectations in Q2, delivering revenue of $3.87 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.45, beating analyst estimates by 5.9% and 13% respectively. The company's Specialty and Infusion pharmacy business drove growth, with revenue up 30% and script growth of 31% year-over-year. CEO Jon Rousseau attributed the performance to new limited distribution drug launches and broad-based volume growth. However, segments like Home and Community Pharmacy faced challenges from customer exits and regulatory headwinds. The company raised its full-year revenue guidance to $15.26 billion at the midpoint, up 1.9% from previous guidance. Operating margin improved to 3.4%, compared to 1.5% in the prior-year quarter. Despite the strong results, the market reacted negatively, reflecting concerns about underlying business headwinds.
