Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience working in social and digital media, rapid response, and issues management communications for a high-profile organization.
  • Deep understanding of current events and how narratives evolve across social and digital media platforms.
  • Experience developing and executing successful social media strategies, with an understanding of online community dynamics and brand reputation management.
  • Proficiency with social media management platforms and social listening tools.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including proficiency with creative formats and tools such as video for sharing information across social platforms.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and experience developing consensus and alignment on a strategic point of view across a diverse, matrixed organization.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for The New York Times’ corporate communications accounts.
  • Manage corporate communications social channels by creating content, monitoring conversations, and working with communications colleagues to surface relevant topics.
  • Develop and execute social media rapid response plans during crises, breaking news, or sensitive issues.
  • Draft, create, and post approved rapid response content, including statements, frequently asked questions, reactive posts, short videos, and other creative formats across social platforms.
  • Develop and implement a nuanced social media issues management strategy while adhering to approved messaging and brand guidelines.
  • Identify potential reputational risks and escalate them to appropriate stakeholders for intervention.
  • Monitor engagement and sentiment on rapid response posts with the data team, providing real-time feedback and insights.
  • Provide after-action reports summarizing the effectiveness of the strategy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience working at a media organization, campaign, or large corporation with international reach and a prominent social media presence.
  • Prior study or work with online influencers or high-follower social media accounts.
