Bitmovin adds HEVC, AV1 and MoQ capabilities to Encoder.

Bitmovin adds HEVC, AV1 and MoQ capabilities to Encoder. The latest ugrade includes more HDR formats, lower latency, and AI-native tooling built directly into the encoding pipeline Published: September 10, 2026 Bitmovin has released the latest version of its Encoder, with new HEVC and AV1 codecs, Media over QUIC (MOQ) and integration with AI agents. Bitmovin Encoder Version 3 introduces new codecs tuned for its content-aware per-title encoding. In tests across animation, sports, TV and cinematic content, the HEVC codec matched the current codec's quality at 15.5 per cent lower bitrate with per-title encoding and 17.6 per cent lower on static ladders. At the same bitrate it delivers up to 4 VMAF points more quality, said the company, with 25 per cent less compute time on average. A leading public cloud encoder needed 58 per cent more bitrate to match the quality of Bitmovin's new HEVC with per-title encoding, with the gap compounded through origin storage, CDN egress, and every viewer's connection. The AV1 codec is 66 per cent quicker at equal quality, delivering three times the current codec's output. Additionally, version 3 adds AV1-based Dolby Vision Profile 10 and HDR10 for VP9 and AV1 as well as Real-Time VMAF (RT-VMAF) quality scoring for H.264, HEVC, and AV1. Stefan Lederer, co-CEO and co-founder of Bitmovin, said, "Version 3 is our biggest leap yet: better codecs, more HDR formats, lower latency, and AI-native tooling built directly into the encoding pipeline. We were first to show viable cloud-based encoding with AV1. In Version 3 we are pushing the bounds of encoding on the quality and cost vectors simultaneously." Through the Bitmovin MCP server, Version 3 provides AI such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot with read-only, plain-language access to users' VoD and Live encodings to: list and filter recent jobs, inspect encoding parameters, explain failures, and summarise activity with no custom API integration required. Designed for live sports and interactive formats, Version 3 features ultra-low-latency live streaming over MOQ. General availability is planned for VoD production deployments later in the year, with with additional features, performance, and quality improvements for live to follow closely.

MonetizationOS and Bitmovin partner to connect entitlement and video delivery.

MonetizationOS and Bitmovin partner to connect entitlement and video delivery. September 8, 2026 Joint integration debuts at IBC Amsterdam 2026, closing the gap between access decisions and playback experience Today MonetizationOS Limited announce its partnership with Bitmovin, the leading provider of video streaming solutions. This partnership connects two parts of the streaming stack that have always been separate systems: the decision about who a viewer is and what they are entitled to see, and the delivery of the video itself. It also looks forward to the future together, and how authentication and authorization works in the world of agentic traffic. MonetizationOS handles the decision layer. MonetizationOS Limited resolve identity, entitlement, and the right experience for each user in under 50 milliseconds, at the edge. Bitmovin's Player handles the delivery layer, managing playback across every device and exposing the configuration and events model that controls the viewer experience: quality levels, offline access permissions, and latency profiles. The integration removes the gap between those two layers. A single entitlement decision made by MonetizationOS flows directly into Bitmovin's Player at load time. When circumstances change mid-stream, such as a trial ending or a live event shifting tiers, Bitmovin's events model sends the signal back to MonetizationOS, which responds in real time. No custom engineering is required to connect the two. Bitmovin owns encoding, playback and observability, MonetizationOS Limited then take decisions when it comes to who should get what stream, at what quality, and under what terms. The partnership ensures that these decisions are made quickly and seamlessly as part of the viewer's experience. Some example use cases: * Video quality by subscription tier - MonetizationOS resolves entitlement and passes a quality ceiling to the player. Output: enforced bitrate caps per tier, changeable in minutes, not with an app release. * Mid-stream conversion for metered viewing - MonetizationOS tracks consumption and fires the upgrade prompt at the exact playback position the meter runs out. Output: a paywall moment that's tunable without touching player code. * Low-latency streams for sports add-ons - MonetizationOS gates the low-latency profile behind a specific entitlement; Bitmovin's Player serves it only to sessions that clear the check. Output: a sellable add-on with pricing decoupled from delivery. * Geo rights enforcement and blackouts - MonetizationOS resolves location and rights window in real time and instructs the player to block, downgrade, or substitute. Output: blackout rules editable by the rights team, with an audit trail - not logic buried in a build. "Every streaming business needs to make more from every household - that's a packaging and pricing challenge. With Bitmovin and MonetizationOS, they can now solve it themselves, in real time, inside the player they already run. Each viewer gets the right product and offer individually instead of one standard price - so you can ship, learn, iterate, driving new revenue growth." - James Henderson, CEO, MonetizationOS. "Monetization is a focus for every streaming service and Bitmovin's Player has a range of configurations available to change the content and capabilities that subscribers have access to. This integration with MonetizationOS gives publishers huge control over Bitmovin's Player configuration to build intelligent monetization models that maximize revenue for their digital business. The integration is also complemented by Bitmovin's Observability & AI solutions to ensure that streaming services have a complete picture of their monetization performance." - James Varndell, VP Product, Bitmovin. MonetizationOS and Bitmovin will both be at IBC in Amsterdam this week, where broadcasters, streaming providers and technology partners gather each September. The integration will be shown there (Hall 5, 5.F72) alongside sessions on where sports rights, publishing and streaming revenue go next. About monetizationos. MonetizationOS is edge-native, programmable monetization infrastructure for the full audience: human and machine. It governs access, entitlements, pricing, and experiences in real time at the edge, making decisions on every request regardless of whether the actor is a subscriber, a B2B account holder, or an AI agent. Beyond the player, MonetizationOS manages the full customer experience: account sharing controls, granular subscription tiers, dynamic bundling, and conversion moments across every surface. It integrates with existing CDN, identity, billing, and CMS infrastructure. For more information, visit monetizationos.com. About Bitmovin. RTBF shifts ad monetization to server-guided insertion with Bitmovin, AIP.

RTBF shifts ad monetization to server-guided insertion with Bitmovin, AIP. [email protected] September 7, 2026 Belgian public broadcaster RTBF has moved its advertising workflow to server-guided ad insertion, adopting a new system from Bitmovin and Ad Insertion Platform that is designed to improve monetization across live and time-shifted streaming. The deployment replaces RTBF's legacy client-side ad insertion and server-side ad insertion workflows with a standards-based SGAI system built on HLS Interstitials. Ad Insertion Platform provides the underlying SGAI infrastructure and ad-routing technology through its AdBlendr platform, while Bitmovin's Player handles playback across connected televisions, mobile devices and web browsers. The companies said the setup allows RTBF to monetize long live streams without generating individual manifests for every viewer, while also consolidating live and on-demand advertising inventory within the same workflow. That capability is particularly relevant for sports programming. During FIFA World Cup coverage, for example, viewers could rewind matches and watch portions of the broadcast after they originally aired. Under the new system, RTBF can dynamically fill advertising opportunities during both live and time-shifted playback. The deployment also involved Red Bee Media, Dotscreen and RMB: Red Bee Media integrated the technology stack and coordinated interfaces between the participating vendors. Dotscreen developed, integrated and maintains RTBF's applications across platforms, while RMB oversees advertising sales and commercial monetization. Bitmovin said its Player supports the deployment across Samsung, LG, Android TV, Fire TV, Hisense smart televisions, web browsers, iOS and Android. RTBF is also using Bitmovin's Observability platform to monitor playback and advertising performance in real time across those environments. The companies said the data gives RTBF greater visibility into how advertising inventory performs across devices and can inform optimization and sales. James Varndell, the Vice President of Product, Playback at Bitmovin, said the deployment demonstrates how SGAI can open additional advertising opportunities in streaming by combining dynamic ad delivery with a more scalable technical architecture. "There's significant untapped advertising growth potential in video streaming, and as this first deployment of SGAI between Bitmovin & AIP demonstrates, SGAI is key to unlocking exciting new monetization opportunities," James Varndell, the Vice President of Product and Playback at Bitmovin, said on Monday. "Deep integration between Bitmovin and AIP's technologies enabled RTBF to seamlessly migrate its channels to SGAI workflows, giving the broadcaster the capabilities it needs to optimize every ad opportunity." Laurent Potesta, the CEO of Ad Insertion Platform, said the system was designed to increase monetization without adding unnecessary complexity or degrading the viewing experience. "Broadcasters are looking for ad solutions that increase revenue without adding complexity or compromising the viewing experience," Potesta said in a statement. "This deployment demonstrates how standards-based SGAI can deliver on both fronts. By combining our AdBlendr platform with Bitmovin's playback technology, RTBF has modernized its ad monetization workflow and unlocked valuable inventory that was previously difficult to monetize." All RTBF channels are now live on the SGAI workflow, making the deployment the broadcaster's primary streaming monetization system.

Hydrolix showcases agentic AI and multi-cdn demonstrations at IBC 2026.

Hydrolix showcases agentic AI and multi-cdn demonstrations at IBC 2026. Hydrolix joins industry panel on building the AI-ready media enterprise and four live partner demonstrations. We're showing how Einbliq's anomaly detection layer works hand-in-hand with the Hydrolix data fabric." - Kamil Bogacz, Senior Solutions Engineer at Hydrolix. PORTLAND, OR, UNITED STATES, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ - Hydrolix, the real-time data platform for internet-scale operations, today announced its participation in IBC 2026, the International Broadcasting Convention taking place September 11-14 at the RAI Amsterdam. Highlighting support for agentic digital operations and multi-CDN performance optimization, Hydrolix Director of Partnerships, Rory McVicar, will join an industry panel on building AI-ready media infrastructure. The company will participate in four live partner demonstrations, in addition to its own demo in Hall 14, C47. The presence reflects a shift already underway across media and entertainment. As streaming operators move from experimenting with AI to deploying it in live production environments, the quality of the underlying data increasingly determines what those AI systems can actually do. Full-fidelity, real-time data access is what allows AI agents to detect a problem, trace its root cause, and act on it while an event is still live, rather than after the fact. On Sunday, September 13, from 14:30 to 15:15 CEST, McVicar joins Sean King, Chief Revenue Officer and General Manager of Veritone Commercial, and Marcus Edel, Machine Learning Lead at Collabora, on a panel exploring how media organizations are building the infrastructure, data foundations, and operational capabilities required to deploy AI at scale, and how customizing and integrating AI models, paired with advances in real-time observability, is transforming media operations. "I'm looking forward to comparing notes with industry leaders on where this is heading," said Rory McVicar, Director of Partnerships at Hydrolix. "In media, the audience usually finds the problem before the provider does. That puts a premium on how quickly you get from a signal to the raw event that explains it - and that's a data layer question. Keep everything, keep it affordable, keep it queryable. The same logic applies to AI: context windows are finite, so you feed the model high-fidelity aggregates and let it reach back into the full-fidelity data when it needs to." Hydrolix will also be featured across four partner demonstrations built to show what that data layer makes possible. With AWS (Hall 14 - Future Tech - 14.B30), Hydrolix serves as the streaming analytics data layer behind Agentic Intelligent Operations for Streaming Media, the AWS reference architecture built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and the AWS Strands SDK. Through its MCP server, Hydrolix gives Bedrock agents natural-language, query access in seconds to full-fidelity telemetry from Amazon CloudFront, AWS Elemental MediaLive, AWS Elemental MediaTailor, and AWS WAF, enabling agents to detect, diagnose, and resolve streaming quality issues in real time, without human intervention. A separate demo with Bitmovin (Hall 5 - Content Everywhere - 5.F72), featuring Orange Wholesale CDN, combines Bitmovin's video playback observability with Hydrolix CDN Insights so streaming teams can move from detecting a viewer-facing issue to identifying its root cause in minutes rather than hours, across both the playback and delivery layers. With Accenture (Hall 5 - Content Everywhere - 5.G18), Hydrolix will show intelligent, agentic multi-CDN switching across Amazon CloudFront and Google Media CDN, supplying real-time performance data across every CDN dimension, down to the country and ISP level, so that agentic AI can shift traffic to the best-performing CDN as conditions change. With Einbliq (Hall 3, booth B48c), Hydrolix will demonstrate a quality-of-experience anomaly detection workflow that layers Einbliq's purpose-built machine learning models and agentic AI on top of the Hydrolix multi-CDN data fabric. "We're showing how Einbliq's anomaly detection layer works hand-in-hand with the Hydrolix data fabric," said Kamil Bogacz, Senior Solutions Engineer at Hydrolix. "Einbliq pulls CDN logs at scale through Hydrolix and uses purpose-built machine learning models to spot playback sessions with anomalous, performance-impacting behavior, then pinpoints the root cause behind it. Those findings get written back into our dashboards, so teams can move between Einbliq's root-cause view and our standard multi-CDN dashboards without switching tools. It's a good example of what's possible when a fast, full-fidelity data layer sits underneath specialized AI models." Hydrolix experts, including Rory McVicar and Kamil Bogacz, will be on site at IBC2026 for interviews about agentic AI operations, anti-piracy detection, and real-time streaming data. To arrange a meeting, contact Abby Ross, Head of Corporate Communications, at [email protected].
