Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED with experience is required; an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional certification is preferred.
  • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification is preferred.
  • BICSI Registered Telecommunications Project Manager certification is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general building codes and BICSI standards.
  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial and/or data center construction and project management, including installation of standard cabling technologies, rack infrastructure, and management of large-scale build projects.
  • Experience managing large-scale client projects with Guaranteed Maximum Price contracts.
  • Product experience with Panduit, CommScope, Corning, and other comparable products.
  • Successful completion of previous telecommunications projects.
  • Experience managing projects valued at $1 million or more and service contracts.
  • Considerable decision-making authority regarding procedures, plans, and schedules for assigned projects or work.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and root cause analysis to determine feasible solutions.
  • Knowledge of the structured cabling industry, including technology, quality, and safety standards.
  • Ability to sit, use hands and arms, communicate verbally, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, carry and climb ladders to 20 feet, operate scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs when required, and work in tight or confined spaces.
Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work practices and company and client worksite safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the request for proposal process by reviewing plans, specifications, and bid forms.
  • Review contracts and work orders for content, validity, and changes.
  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships to secure and expand business opportunities.
  • Provide the initial client interface to assess project scope, schedule, and required resources.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure materials, equipment, and labor are available.
  • Develop mobilization and resource plans and oversee acquisition of required equipment.
  • Manage project scheduling requirements to control costs and meet contract requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships and streamline project activities for efficiency.
  • Communicate with staff and upper management regarding customer and job requirements.
  • Participate in progress update meetings and provide customer progress reports according to contractual requirements.
  • Work with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Site Inspector to prepare and complete change orders using customer-required tools.
  • Monitor installation activities with onsite personnel to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team to communicate and achieve specifications under client quality plans.
  • Manage job costs, profitability, schedules, project updates, scope and order changes, and other events affecting projects through internal systems and reports.
  • Ensure service-level agreements are met and evaluate cost versus performance to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Represent the company in client project meetings.
  • Participate in assigned company meetings, conference calls, and other required meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Project Engineer to complete project close-outs efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist with accounts receivable when required.
  • Manage customer acceptance and project sign-off.
  • Provide coaching, development, and guidance to direct reports and team members.
  • Encourage team members to promote a Lean culture and develop familiarity with emerging technologies.
  • Drive continuous-improvement activities and support Lean initiatives across the site.
  • Travel overnight and as required by project needs.
