Asana’s Developer Platform gives external developers the power and flexibility to extend Asana’s native functionality through an ecosystem of apps and integrations. The Platform Adoption team is a brand new team at Asana responsible for building the features, tools, and programs that make this ecosystem come to life. We provide our developers with everything they need to be successful and facilitate the easy adoption and utilization of apps they create, ensuring that Asana can support every customer use case out there – no matter how big or small the team, and no matter which tools or workflows they use. 

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Lead to drive technical strategy and execution for Platform Adoption. Working closely with API and Integrations teams and leveraging your full-stack expertise, you will shape the product experiences, backend architecture, and data models that power our app ecosystem. You will lead a cross-functional team of software engineers and developer advocates and contribute to their growth via mentorship. You will collaborate with peers across R&D to ensure a solid technical foundation for the team’s roadmap now and in the future. This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve

• Set the technical strategy for a superlative product experience with Asana’s Developer Platform and app ecosystem
• Advocate for engineering-driven investments with a vision for keeping Asana’s systems flexible and maintainable to meet evolving customer needs
• Drive the team to continually and holistically better itself, enabling your teammates to deliver at a high velocity while helping them grow their skills in the process
• Be a key collaborator with other groups in Engineering and a technical counterpart to the Platform Adoption team’s Engineering Manager, representing the team’s interests across organizational boundaries
• Employ cross-functional thinking: partner with Product Management, Design, Data Science, and User Research to deeply understand customer needs and meet them by designing comprehensive solutions that leverage the team’s unique competencies across software development as well as developer relations
• Make significant individual contributions by developing across the entire stack and leaving things better than you found them – this includes writing Scala, Javascript, and Typescript

About you

• 5+ years of experience working in large codebases
• 2+ years leading product engineering teams
• 1+ years building API-first products, app ecosystems, or Developer Platforms
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
• Quick learner and comfortable transitioning between different contexts, codebases, and skill sets to jump in and rapidly unblock teammates facing thorny obstacles
• Deep project management experience including high-level timeline planning, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and coordinating the work of others
• Passionate about mentoring engineers and developer advocates at all skill levels; able to identify technical growth opportunities and deliver thoughtful, candid feedback

Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we’re committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $202,000-$258,000.  The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
