About the Job

Requirements

  • A strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and ship working software through side projects, coursework, or prior internships.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy production-grade software across the stack, from embedded firmware to backend infrastructure to member-facing products.
  • Write code that runs under real-world conditions where failures have physical consequences, with reliability as a core responsibility.
  • Contribute to internal tools that support expansion into new markets, paperwork and deployment complexity, and large-scale field operations.
  • Partner with hardware, deployment, and operations teams to solve problems spanning software and the physical world.
  • Work on the software stack, including battery-control firmware, real-time power-market trading algorithms, distributed commanding systems, factory software, and the homeowner product experience.
  • Depending on the selected area, build member-facing onboarding, bill-pay, telemetry, grid-status, and reliability systems; factory tracking, procurement, receiving, inventory, and financial-system integrations; deployment site evaluation, paperwork, scheduling, crew dispatch, and field tools; utility-partner APIs and services; distributed-compute control-plane systems; or full-stack product engineering.

About the Company

Base Power

Residential battery storage with grid services

Base Power provides in-home energy storage via a subscription model by installing and owning a network of backyard batteries to give homes backup power and to provide grid services. Customers pay an install fee plus ongoing monthly and per-kWh charges, and Base Power sells stored electricity back to the grid during peak demand while ensuring home outage backup. It differentiates itself by using distributed, customer-backed-by-Base batteries installed in homes rather than large centralized storage sites, combined with a subscription model and direct participation in grid markets. Its goal is to give reliable home backup power and monetize distributed storage to help balance grid demand while expanding access to clean energy storage.
