Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Biological Science or a job-related field of study.
  • One year of work-related experience.
  • Knowledge of standard software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Responsibilities
  • Perform testing and identification procedures on serology and microbiology specimens submitted to the laboratory.
  • Perform procedures necessary for accurate accessioning of specimens from receiving through reporting; prepare media, reagents, and stains; document results; and perform quality control procedures to maintain laboratory certification.
  • Ensure safety practices and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Supervise all activities in the STAT Laboratory, including the STD Clinic and Mobile Clinic.
  • Teach and train medical personnel on laboratory testing when visiting the STD Clinic.
  • Participate in proficiency testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
