Stryker lags peers with 8.5% growth as plant problems, not hospitals, hit sales

Stryker's stock has lost 20.2% over the past 12 months, dividends included, while the S&P 500 returned 15.0%. Its revenue grew 8.5% over the latest four quarters, slower than four of its five peers, including Boston Scientific (13.5%) and Intuitive Surgical (20.5%). Management says hospital demand is steady. It blames the slowdown on a cybersecurity incident that halted manufacturing and on supply problems in peripheral vascular products. First-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue grew just 2.6%, and operating margin fell to 15.5%. Margin recovered to 25.2% in the second quarter. The stock fell 8.8% on September 8, 2026, after the chief financial officer said the vascular issue was unresolved. Third-quarter results are due October 29, 2026. Spencer Stiles will succeed Kevin Lobo as chief executive officer on January 1, 2027.

P&G and Stryker: two dividend stocks to hold for decades

Procter & Gamble and Stryker are two dividend stocks suited to long-term holders, according to the article. Both sell products people need in any economy. P&G has raised its dividend for 70 consecutive years. In fiscal 2026, it posted net sales of about $87 billion, up 3%, and net earnings of $16.1 billion. It returned more than $15 billion to shareholders, including $10.2 billion in dividends. Organic sales and core earnings per share each grew just 1%. Stryker has raised its dividend for more than three decades. Second-quarter 2026 revenue rose 9.4% to $6.6 billion, and adjusted earnings per share climbed 17.9% to $3.69. Demand should gain from an ageing US population, though recalls, acquisition costs, and hospital spending pressures remain risks.
