Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in a science-related field with 9–13 years of experience, or a Master of Science or Master of Business Administration degree in a science-related field with 7–11 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including advanced features for data analysis, reporting, and presentation development.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of United States Department of Agriculture, European Union, and Animal Welfare Act guidelines.
  • Ability to work scheduled 40 hours, overtime as needed, weekends as needed, and rotating weekend duties.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical tasks, including prolonged walking, sitting, or standing; reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, gripping, lifting, carrying, twisting, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements.
  • Ability to grasp and manipulate objects such as pipettors, flasks, and bottles.
  • All applicants must possess or obtain authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all Biological Quality Control Operations for the Charles City site to ensure vaccines meet United States, European Union, and international regulatory requirements.
  • Advise management of products that do not meet required testing specifications and recommend appropriate regulatory actions.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities in the Quality Control laboratories and Animal Test facility.
  • Manage the Virology; Bacteriology and Immunology; Chemistry, Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring; and Animal Test departments.
  • Assure the overall quality and integrity of biological products manufactured and distributed in worldwide markets based on 9 CFR, applicable current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ensure biological products manufactured by or distributed by Charles City are tested according to applicable United States Department of Agriculture, European Union, Zoetis, and destination-country requirements.
  • Manage Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service sampling, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Form 2008 preparation, stability and confirmation of expiry testing and submissions, Laboratory Information Management System management, and test sample distribution.
  • Ensure colleagues are adequately trained and continue receiving training on current Good Manufacturing Practices, safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, technical skills, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure training documentation is accurate and only trained colleagues perform assigned functions.
  • Use situational leadership skills, encourage participation and teamwork, develop people, conduct performance appraisals, create an inclusive environment, and promote mutual accountability.
  • Provide leadership for the Quality Operations Quality Control unit.
  • Direct the review of and provide Quality Control approval for test records, batch records, process worksheets, standard methods, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure testing and manufacturing documents follow Outlines of Production.
  • Review and approve validation protocols and task reports as necessary.
  • Work with Quality Control laboratory personnel, Manufacturing, and Planning to organize and prioritize schedules for timely testing and release of saleable, experimental, stability, and transfer products.
  • Work with Biological Manufacturing management to investigate and resolve processing quality and compliance issues through appropriate and timely testing.
  • Participate in key teams and task forces and make recommendations to maintain regulatory compliance at Charles City.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections of the Charles City facility.
  • Manage systems supporting raw material release, final product release, new product transfers and specifications, annual product reviews, stability, and complaints.
  • Ensure quality documentation used in the manufacture and testing of biological products meets current Good Manufacturing Practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish systems to maintain audit readiness of testing documentation for regulatory agencies and internal auditors.
  • Implement communication networks for information flow among plant sites, senior management, staff groups, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance between current testing practices and regulatory filings through a regulatory compliance self-inspection program.
  • Support location and site leadership initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in the external regulatory community.

Zoetis shares plunge 50% as animal health giant trails S&P 500 despite $2.5B revenue

Despite market challenges, Zoetis reported Q2 adjusted earnings per share of $1.87, beating Wall Street's $1.86 estimate, though revenue of $2.50 billion missed the $2.51 billion forecast. The company maintains a market capitalisation of $31.9 billion.

Zoetis appoints GE Healthcare CFO Jay Saccaro as dual finance chief and COO

Zoetis has appointed former GE Healthcare CFO Jay Saccaro to a newly created dual role as CFO and chief operating officer, effective 17 August. Saccaro, who spent three years at GE Healthcare and nine years as CFO at Baxter International Healthcare, will receive an annual base salary of $1 million, with eligibility for bonuses totalling 100% of his salary and long-term incentives worth $5 million. He will also receive a one-time restricted stock unit award valued at approximately $6.2 million and a cash award of $1.2 million. Current CFO Wetteny Joseph will transition to special advisor on 16 August, remaining in a non-executive role until February 2027 or an earlier agreed date. The appointment comes as the New Jersey-based animal health company seeks new growth opportunities amid economic headwinds.
