- At least 18 years of age.
- A high school degree or equivalent is required.
- Must use personal protective equipment when dealing with blood and body fluids and follow standard universal precautions.
- Must perform only tasks for which trained and must not operate equipment without proper instruction.
- Must maintain good attendance and take breaks only as assigned.
- Maintain the cleanliness and servicing of assigned areas, including resident rooms, apartments, common areas, and employee work areas.
- Apply safety procedures and precautions in a healthcare or senior-living setting, including material handling and disposal.
- Work collectively within the department to keep the facility clean and safe for residents, visitors, and staff.
- Provide on-call services, as assigned.
- Perform cleaning tasks in assigned areas of skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living, including disinfecting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, removing garbage or hazardous waste, cleaning furniture, windows, stairs, doors, and bathrooms, and removing soiled linens.
- Cross-train to work in all areas of the community.
- Perform periodic jobs such as wall washing, drapery and curtain washing, and cleaning vents and blinds.
- Clean unexpected accidents, spills, blood, and body waste.
- Operate floor-cleaning machines, buffers, wet/dry vacuums, and similar equipment.
- Know the Material Safety Data Sheets information for all housekeeping areas.
- Know safety codes, including fire, tornado, and disaster procedures.
- Know the chemicals, disinfectants, equipment, and supplies used throughout the facility and use them appropriately.
- Read and adhere to the resident rights agreement and report any violations immediately.
- Maintain a calm, composed attitude when dealing with difficult residents and families.
- Work cooperatively with all disciplines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
