About the Role

The Affordability team operates closely with the Product, Analytics, and Strategy and Operations teams, working at the intersection of product engineering, platform and machine learning to solve key business challenges with advanced technical solutions. As the manager of the Affordability team, you’ll manage a team of backend, web, iOS and android engineers. You’ll shape both the technical vision and execution, focusing on delivering targeted incentives and creating a personalized affordability experience for our consumers. Your leadership will drive the development of reliable, scalable systems that integrate with machine learning models to optimize these customized offers. By staying close to the ground of the business, you’ll make strategic decisions that amplify business impact and help make DoorDash more affordable for everyone.

Lead a talented team of engineers to build new industry leading technologies
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define the roadmap and vision for the team and deliver immense impact
Build an outstanding team by coaching engineers, empowering engineers through delegation and applying your technical expertise to hold your team to the highest engineering standards
Scale the team by recruiting, retaining and developing highly talented engineers across different disciplines
Inspire the team with your technical vision and create the alignment necessary to execute on it
Provide technical guidance and roll up your sleeves with hands-on contributions when necessary
Scale the team by developing internal talents and attracting top talents

We’re excited about you because…

B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent
7+ years of industry experience
Minimum of 2 years of management experience, managing full-stack teams (backend, web, iOS & android)
Strong hands-on experience with working with non-technical stakeholders, cross-team collaboration, and building scalable products in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle ambiguity and work with product and business partners to collect non-technical requirements to design and build scalable experience solutions.
Ability to guide and grow an excellent engineering team in a rapidly changing business environment

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location.Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Washington.
