About the job

Requirements
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, data-centric artificial intelligence, model evaluation, or research engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and build robust data pipelines, evaluation systems, or machine learning research infrastructure.
  • Strong Python programming skills and the ability to develop reliable, scalable research tooling.
  • Experience in at least one core area: dataset curation and quality, or evaluation of generative and multimodal models.
  • Ability to independently identify research bottlenecks, formulate solutions, and execute projects end to end.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and experience working with complex datasets or machine learning systems.
Responsibilities
  • Develop scalable data filtering, curation, and quality pipelines that improve the reliability of training datasets across medical imaging modalities.
  • Explore approaches to detecting label noise, image-report misalignment, duplicates, and other dataset quality issues.
  • Design evaluation frameworks for radiology report generation that measure clinical accuracy, completeness, hallucinations, and factual consistency.
  • Work with radiologists to translate clinical judgment and expert feedback into scalable data quality and evaluation signals.
  • Build model-based evaluators, automated grading methods, and human-in-the-loop workflows to improve model quality measurement.
  • Develop benchmarks, evaluation pipelines, and continuous regression testing to support research iteration.
  • Identify bottlenecks across data, training, and evaluation, and develop tools and methodologies to accelerate the research team.
  • Share technical insights, develop best practices, and contribute to publications or open-source research.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing evaluation frameworks for large language models, vision-language models, or other generative models.
  • Familiarity with data filtering, deduplication, label-noise detection, or active learning.
  • Experience building model-based evaluators, large-language-model-as-judge systems, or human-in-the-loop annotation workflows.
  • Knowledge of clinical evaluation methodologies, including factuality assessment, hallucination detection, or RadGraph-style metrics.
  • Background in medical imaging, radiology, clinical natural language processing, or other healthcare artificial intelligence applications.
  • Experience working with large-scale data processing tools such as Spark, Airflow, or Databricks.
  • Publications or open-source contributions in machine learning, data-centric artificial intelligence, evaluation, or medical artificial intelligence.

About the company

Epsilon Health, incorporated as Epsilon Labs, is an AI-native radiology practice that reads medical imaging and reports on it. Board-certified radiologists own every diagnosis while the company's models support throughput, accuracy, and report quality, an arrangement aimed at imaging volume that keeps rising against a shrinking radiologist workforce, leaving patients waiting days for results that should take hours. It serves imaging centers and payers, and its research teams build the models and evaluation tools the practice runs on. Unlike vendors that sell software to hospitals and leave adoption to them, it operates the practice itself, so models reach live reads instead of papers. The company's goal is to shorten turnaround by putting clinicians, engineers, and researchers inside one organization.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • September 2026 funding reached $27.6 million from AlleyCorp, Uncork, Renegade, SemperVirens.
  • Epsilon reported 2,500 daily studies and over 250,000 patients served by September 2026.
  • It already handles over half one major outpatient imaging provider's volume, proving enterprise traction.

What critics are saying

  • Most AI-assisted imaging remains bundled; CMS 2026 keeps separate reimbursement weak.
  • Teleradiology malpractice claims show higher death rates and larger payouts; remote reads heighten exposure.
  • Frontier Radiology, RadNet, and Radiology Partners are building AI-native competing reading networks.

What makes Epsilon Health unique

  • Epsilon combines AI software with physician-owned radiology operations, unlike point-solution vendors.
  • Board-certified U.S. radiologists sign every report, preserving clinical trust and licensure accountability.
  • Every corrected case expands a proprietary dataset embedded directly inside live interpretation workflows.
