Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Five years of management experience in hospital accounts receivable billing and accounts receivable follow-up is required.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital registration, insurance billing, and overall accounts receivable management is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to supervise, organize, multitask, and achieve results through others is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Knowledge of contracts is required.
  • Ability to interface with departments regarding patient concerns and charging matters is required.
  • Fire Life Safety Training from the City of Los Angeles is required within 30 days of hire if the applicant does not have the card, with renewal before expiration.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all collections-related functions, including billing, rejections, follow-up, disputes, and ongoing analysis to ensure performance and outcomes.
  • Data mine to identify payer issues and trends, escalate issues as necessary, and support long-term revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Engage with payers regarding inventory and aging, including monthly or as-needed payer relations meetings for accounts receivable resolution.
  • Stay current with contracts and state and federal regulations affecting accounts receivable.
  • Develop and implement ongoing training programs to address department needs and monitor staff productivity and quality outcomes.
  • Develop and oversee workflow activities and formulate departmental policies and procedures while establishing goals.
  • Manage assigned staff and recommend organizational structure, reporting relationships, and staffing needs based on goals.
  • Make hiring, promotional, and salary decisions in accordance with university policy.
  • Provide staff performance appraisals and determine the need for disciplinary action.
  • Train new collector and biller staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
