Requirements
  • A master's degree is required, and each faculty member must meet the university's accreditation and academic standards for being highly qualified.
  • A deep acquaintance with the doctrinal and experiential aspects of Christianity is essential.
  • A vibrant faith in Christ and the ability to teach a broad range of engaging, high-quality Psychology courses from a biblical perspective, a Christian worldview, and Christian presuppositions.
  • Superior teaching, interpersonal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in appropriate Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to use appropriate learning management software and technology, such as Brightspace.
  • A committed personal Christian faith consistent with the university's evangelical mission and Statement of Faith.
  • Regular attendance and meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church, knowledge of the Bible, and passion for Christian education.
  • Ability to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends, and to participate in campus activities and events throughout the year.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical duties, including occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned undergraduate English courses in the College of Undergraduate Studies using varied best-practice teaching and learning strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate course curriculum, teaching-learning practices, and student learning outcomes.
  • Engage students, maintain established office hours, and provide individual consultations, academic advising, and informal mentoring.
  • Contribute to the university mission through scholarship, committee or task-force work, community development, and related internal or external activities.
  • Engage in professional organization activities and scholarly work, including publications and presentations commensurate with experience and academic rank.
  • Provide strategic thinking in support of the College of Undergraduate Studies goals and the university's Strategic Priorities.
  • Participate actively in faculty, committee, task-force, and other meetings.
  • Advocate for the university's mission, traditional Christian beliefs, and Strategic Priorities.
  • Contribute to the development of a Christ-centered community of learners and scholars.
  • Continue growing in the academic field and in integrating Christian faith and learning.
  • Provide effective servant/shepherd leadership among faculty, staff, students, and administrators according to academic rank.
  • Work effectively with administrators, faculty colleagues, and support staff to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities that support and encourage students, colleagues, and staff.
  • Assist the dean with other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in English or a related field.
  • Successful teaching experience in a college or university, with a proven record of quality classroom instruction and dynamic student engagement.
