Mattermost, an open-source collaboration platform for defence and mission-critical teams, has partnered with Virtru, a data-centric security firm, to deliver Zero Trust Data Format technology for national security operations. The integration enables organisations to apply cryptographic file protection within Mattermost workflows, supporting the Department of War's Zero Trust Strategy and CMMC requirements. When users upload files in Mattermost, they can classify them and apply handling restrictions. Virtru then wraps the file in a ZTDF-protected container, enabling encryption and policy-based access controls that persist as data moves across environments. The architecture aligns with DoD Zero Trust principles and standards recognised by the intelligence community. The integration is available now and will be demonstrated at Black Hat USA and DoDIIS Worldwide Conference in August 2026.
Mattermost has launched its Professional Certification programme across Asia Pacific and Japan. The credential is designed for engineers who deploy and operate Mattermost in mission-critical environments, including defence, critical infrastructure, financial services, and enterprise operations. The certification validates technical expertise in managing secure communications infrastructure. Engineers can demonstrate their proficiency in deploying Mattermost's platform across sensitive operational settings where reliability and security are paramount. The programme expands Mattermost's support for organisations requiring robust communications systems. By offering professional credentials, the company aims to strengthen the technical capabilities of teams managing its platform in high-stakes environments across the region.
