Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of welding and metal fabrication experience, including interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics and determining the appropriate welding process.
  • At least 5 years of experience and knowledge of MIG, TIG, or push-pull welding applications.
  • Strong mathematics skills and the ability to understand numerical data and take accurate measurements.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, or aptitude in Lean methodology.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of CNC machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of metric and imperial measurement systems and how to calculate with them.
  • Ability to operate computer-aided design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing, awkward working positions, lifting up to 50 pounds independently, and using required personal protective equipment and safety equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee CNC Machine Operators and Welder/Fabricator Technicians.
  • Cultivate team expertise and maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
  • Ensure comprehensive training and training documentation for all team members.
  • Coordinate conflict resolution, resource allocation, scheduling, and strategic planning.
  • Lead team meetings and team-building activities.
  • Contribute to performance management by conducting informal evaluations, observing and documenting team-member performance, and collaborating with People and Development and Human Resources as needed.
  • Maintain internal and external relationships with departments and suppliers to improve quality and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement production schedules and cross-training plans, and ensure optimal utilization of CNC, Loewer, and brake machines.
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet project deadlines.
  • Operate or cover machine operations when a team member is unavailable or fabrication support is otherwise needed.
  • Implement quality-control measures for fabrication processes.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Ensure projects comply with Nomad quality-control requirements and that documentation is complete according to the applicable LSW.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs for CNC, Loewer, and brake machines.
  • Schedule equipment servicing and develop maintenance schedules to prevent downtime and maintain optimal machine performance, including for newly acquired machinery assigned to the position.
  • Identify process-improvement opportunities, implement best practices, and optimize workflows to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Work with Engineering and Production to implement new techniques or technologies.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to maintain adequate production-material stock.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate on procurement strategies.
  • Enforce safety protocols, comply with applicable regulations, and promote safety awareness.
  • Ensure team members remain current on required safety training.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Fabrication Manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional education beyond a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of welding and metal fabrication experience, including blueprint and specification interpretation and welding-process selection.
  • At least 1 year of experience at Nomad Global Communication Solutions.
