About the Job

Requirements

  • A degree in a mathematical, engineering, or scientific discipline, with real experience in linear programming, econometric or machine learning modelling.
  • Ten years or more in product, including ownership of a multi-product portfolio and investment tradeoffs across it.
  • Experience leading product managers, including senior product managers.
  • A track record of productizing analytical or research assets by turning internal or bespoke work into something repeatable, documented, and commercially viable.
  • Experience with machine-consumable delivery through APIs, streaming, data platforms, and workflow integration.
  • Ability to operate without direct control, using clear specifications, credibility, and influence with development, data engineering, and market expertise teams the role does not manage.

Responsibilities

  • Set strategy for the modelling portfolio, including which models to build, rebuild, retire, or acquire across power, gas, and oil markets; own and defend the investment case and sequencing.
  • Move models and their underlying features from research outputs into products with versioning, documented methodology, reproducible outputs, and a defined release cycle.
  • Hire, develop, and set objectives for modelling product leads, and maintain a consistent methodological standard across them.
  • Establish methodology governance standards for validation, change control, backtesting, and documentation.
  • Determine commercial packaging and distribution for modelling assets in applications, through APIs and data platforms, and as inputs to internal analysts; work with commercial teams on pricing and packaging.
  • Partner with central engineering and modelling functions by setting requirements, reviewing implementations, and maintaining quality standards without managing developers.
  • Direct, prioritize, and maintain standards for models rather than build or run them.

Desired Qualifications

  • Commodity or energy market context is preferred; deep subject matter expertise is not required, but sufficient market and commercial literacy is needed to prioritize effectively.
