  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging studies under the direction and supervision of a radiologist.
  • Assist with the education and training of new physicians.
  • Assist radiologists and PhDs in developing new protocols and unique ultrasound imaging techniques, and assist with research initiatives and research protocol development.
  • Monitor the daily charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrate ultrasound equipment during site visits for visiting physicians and administrators.
  • Ensure that orders are appropriate for the recommended examination, report discrepancies to the supervisor, and contact physicians' offices for corrected orders when necessary.
  • Verify patient identity using the electronic medical record and wristband, and obtain required consents and provide patient education.
  • Perform specialized tasks associated with MRI scanners and related equipment according to prescribed safety procedures and age-appropriate standards under radiologist supervision.
  • Integrate diagnostic and laboratory results, patient history, and medical records, and adapt examinations as necessary.
  • Follow MRI protocols and regulatory guidelines governing the modality, including Joint Commission, AHCA, ACR, Florida Department of Health, and FDA/MQSA requirements.
  • Position patients appropriately for MRI scans and use immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and follow universal precautions, including hand washing, use of protective equipment, and equipment disinfection.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, start intravenous lines, and inject contrast when applicable.
  • Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images in exposure sequence, label images appropriately, and film or transmit images to PACS.
  • Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
