Requirements
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must self-identify as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services and have at least one year in stable recovery, per Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services guidelines.
  • Familiarity with community mental health services.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and at least three years older than the youth served.
  • Must complete required state trainings.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a dependable vehicle.
  • Must work evenings, overnights, and possibly weekends; PRN staff are on-call during their scheduled hours.
  • Must complete documentation accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
  • Support crisis-call triaging.
  • Provide direct supportive services to individuals experiencing mental health symptoms.
  • Help clients develop proactive solutions to barriers to recovery.
  • Conduct trauma-informed risk assessments as needed, with guidance from a Qualified Mental Health Professional, to address safety concerns.
  • Collaborate regularly with community partners, caregivers, family members, physicians, and other treatment providers until the crisis episode is complete.
  • Coordinate care with providers by requesting and arranging services and coordinating and monitoring services rendered.
  • Complete training and attend meetings as directed.

  • Two years of experience working with adults and children in a health-related field.
