Requirements
  • A GED or high school diploma.
  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, a working cell phone, and valid car insurance, with documentation provided when requested.
  • Experience working with children.
  • The ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting and complete the application for a Certified Behavior Technician license.
  • Successful completion of 40-hour training within one week of employment.
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • A Food Handler's Card within 90 days of hire.
  • Effective oral and written communication, organizational, and public relations skills.
  • The ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team, think and act autonomously, define and solve practical problems, and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
  • The ability to physically respond to physically active and aggressive children, adolescents, and young adults.
  • The ability to follow the appropriate chain of command, respond appropriately to feedback, maintain professional boundaries, and maintain student dignity.
  • The ability to assume and maintain kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, and standing postures for extended periods.
  • The ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, balance, lift, push or pull, carry up to 50 pounds, grasp, reach, handle, stoop or crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, and smell regularly.
  • The ability to run and walk for at least five minutes, escort a student for at least five minutes, climb a six-foot fence, and respond quickly to active and aggressive students.
  • A criminal background clearance or formal exception.
  • The ability to work in environments involving moderate or occasional loud noise, varying weather conditions, physical injury risks, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and group direct student care.
  • Implement skill development strategies, including data collection and delivery of teaching trials.
  • Implement behavior reduction protocols, follow behavior intervention plans, and use approved Safety Care physical-management procedures.
  • Communicate student events to teachers and Board Certified Behavior Analysts.
  • Prepare meals and snacks for students and deliver medication.
  • Document student care and activities.
  • Support the Lead Technician with indirect tasks.
  • Support teachers and Board Certified Behavior Analysts with assessments and goal drafts.
  • Drive company vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized facility and work environment.
  • Use intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements in home, clinic, and community settings.
  • Follow and record data for prescribed training protocols and collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
  • Use safe and appropriate procedures when working with students.
  • Move with students to maintain effective programming and implement safety procedures as directed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst or student programs.
  • Maintain student confidentiality.
  • Collaborate professionally with the treatment team, including students, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, the Lead Behavioral Technician, Behavior Specialist, and coworkers.
  • Assist the Lead Behavioral Technician and Behavior Analysts in preparing student materials.
  • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required training.
Desired Qualifications
  • A history of working with children in school, home, or community settings.
  • Experience with and understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • A 2- or 4-year degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • A current Registered Behavior Technician credential or Certified Behavior Technician credential.
