Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited college or nursing institution with a nurse practitioner or nurse midwife degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the full range of sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion care and gender-affirming care.
  • A master's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of different races, ethnicities, sexual and gender identities and expressions, ages, abilities, and experiences.
  • Ability to work in a computerized office environment, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic practice management systems.
  • A master's or doctorate degree with current Massachusetts licensure as a nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, or physician assistant.
  • Satisfactory completion of training in all methods of contraception and laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy.
  • Current registration with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Massachusetts Controlled Substances Act.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Foundational understanding of structural racism and the systems of oppression that contribute to health inequities in the communities served.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English orally and in writing to prepare and send reports and interact with staff and peers.
  • Ability to use customary office equipment and software.
  • Ability to travel to conduct business as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Provide inclusive, patient-centered, trauma-informed sexual and reproductive health care, including care for adolescents.
  • Obtain and document comprehensive health histories with sensitivity, respect, and attention to patient experience.
  • Perform physical examinations focused on reproductive health using trauma-informed approaches that prioritize comfort, consent, and autonomy.
  • Consult with the Medical Director when patient presentations fall outside established clinical guidelines.
  • Provide cancer screenings and diagnose and treat sexually transmitted infections.
  • Perform specialized procedures as indicated.
  • Deliver counseling and emotional support, promote shared decision-making, and support informed treatment choices.
  • Teach and support positive self-care techniques, including problem resolution and selection of treatment alternatives.
  • Provide birth-control education and methods, including intrauterine devices and implants.
  • Provide gender-affirming hormone therapy.
  • Provide medication abortion care, including ultrasound services.
  • Perform and order diagnostic studies and provide appropriate treatment and follow-up.
  • Perform laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, injections, and vaginal potassium hydroxide preparations, and follow up on abnormal laboratory results.
  • Partner with leadership and staff to plan and implement organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Provide clinical oversight and serve as a resource to clinical support staff.
  • Participate actively in the Clinical Committee, including developing and revising medical guidelines and teaching sheets, and act as a liaison to medical office staff.
  • Prepare examination and procedure rooms, maintain adequate supplies and inventory, and sterilize instruments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record and complete required reports and patient logs.
  • Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure effective functioning of systems.
  • Work with management and staff to plan and implement agency goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources and agency programs to support medical office growth, reputation, and viability.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee, and organizational information.
  • Produce complete, accurate, timely work that meets documentation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
