About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in network engineering, including at least one greenfield or major build-out of a campus, data center, or industrial facility.
  • Deep routing and switching experience with OSPF or BGP, VLANs and VXLAN, spanning tree, LACP, quality of service, and multicast.
  • Competence in physical-layer infrastructure, including fiber and copper plant design, cabling standards, rack and pathway planning, and coordination with electrical and facilities trades.
  • Experience with firewalls, VPN technologies including IPsec and WireGuard, and zone-based segmentation, including writing and defending a security boundary.
  • Experience with data center networking for compute racks, including 25/100G top-of-rack networking, storage and GPU traffic patterns, and out-of-band management.
  • Comfort working on Linux with tcpdump, iproute2, and nftables, and debugging issues between a host routing table and a switch.
  • Ability to document and automate network infrastructure using network as code, version-controlled configurations, and self-built monitoring.
Responsibilities
  • Produce the network design for the factory, including the physical plant, logical topology, IP plan, segmentation model, redundancy, and capacity, and get it built with contractors and facilities.
  • Design and stand up the server and GPU rack fabric, including high-speed top-of-rack networking, out-of-band management, storage traffic, and coordination with power and cooling.
  • Wire and segment robotic work cells, including controllers, safety systems, fieldbus segments, edge compute, cameras, and operator stations, and make robotics middleware discovery and multicast operate correctly.
  • Own the WAN and VPN edge, including redundant private cloud connectivity, failover, and monitoring for lost redundancy.
  • Run the overlay network and its interaction with the underlay, ensuring overlay routing cannot hijack local traffic.
  • Operate core services including DHCP, DNS and private cloud zones, NTP or PTP, network access control where appropriate, and firewall policy between zones.
  • Instrument switches, firewalls, and flow telemetry in the shared monitoring stack, and write runbooks.
  • Carry the network portion of ITAR and CMMC 2.0 Level 2 compliance, including boundary protection, access control, logging, configuration management, and evidence for assessors.
  • Enable remote fleet operations, including re-imaging, health checks, and access to cell compute without physically visiting the cell.
Desired Qualifications
  • Industrial or operational technology networking, including PLCs, EtherCAT or PROFINET, robot controllers, safety systems, and IEC 62443 concepts.
  • ROS 2 or DDS on real networks, including multicast discovery.
  • WireGuard-based overlays at scale and underlay/overlay interaction problems.
  • AWS networking, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN or Direct Connect, and private DNS.
  • Video and camera networks with high camera counts and bandwidth planning.
  • PTP or other precision time synchronization for robotics or measurement.
  • Prior work under ITAR, CMMC, or NIST SP 800-171, ideally producing assessment evidence.

About the company

Foundry Robotics develops AI-driven robotic systems and software for industrial manufacturing, focusing on electromechanical assembly. It combines robots, machine learning models, and a software-defined factory architecture where data and feedback continuously improve performance in high-throughput, high-mix environments. It distinguishes itself by targeting assembly automation rather than fabrication or consumer robots, emphasizing AI-first manufacturing, data integration, and programmable processes for observable, adaptable factories (including defense manufacturing). Its goal is to increase efficiency, adaptability, and scalability of industrial operations by making production programmable and data-driven.
