- Experience managing frequently erratic behaviors that can be aggressive.
- Prior experience with special needs is required.
- Experience with autism spectrum, behavioral disorders, and Angelman syndrome is required.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the start of employment.
- Must be comfortable with pets in the home, including multiple small dogs.
- Must pass a background check before hire.
- Engage the child and encourage appropriate behaviors.
- Provide one-to-one safety supervision with line of sight at all times.
- Assist with regulation techniques during heightened behaviors.
- Set firm boundaries that are beneficial to the child and assist with managing behaviors.
- Provide safety and companionship.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including changing, bathing, transferring to and from a wheelchair, meal preparation, feeding, and basic household chores.
- Provide emotional and behavioral support.
- An outgoing personality is a plus.
