About the job

Requirements
  • A master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics is required.
  • Within the last eighteen months, personally deliver at least one data or analytical solution used by an identified user group in an active business or decision-making process, demonstrating the path from user or decision requirements through data preparation or integration, solution development, user testing, and operational use.
  • Have two years of experience performing data integration or data engineering using relational databases, extract-transform-load or extract-load-transform processes, application programming interfaces, data pipelines, data services, structured data exchange, or comparable methods; demonstrate an example integrating at least two separately administered systems, databases, services, or authoritative data sources.
  • Within the last twenty-four months, demonstrate an example using SQL against relational data sources and an example using Python, R, Scala, Julia, SAS, MATLAB, Stata, or an equivalent programming language to prepare, transform, integrate, automate, analyze, or quality-control data.
  • Personally design or develop at least two structured digital data-collection, workflow, low-code/no-code, configured-application, or comparable solutions that reduced reliance on manual, email-driven, or spreadsheet-based information processes.
  • Personally develop at least one business intelligence product, analytical product, dashboard, metric, visualization, or other decision-support product used by an identified programme, portfolio, management, or operational user group.
  • Demonstrate at least one operational data or analytical solution applying data modelling, data quality, or data-governance practices, with practical application in at least two of: developing data models or relationships; developing data definitions, metadata, or common data standards; implementing validation rules or data-quality controls; implementing data lineage, stewardship, or authoritative-source controls.
  • Demonstrate at least one data, analytical, or digital solution transitioned for continued operation or maintenance by another developer, support team, platform owner, or operational organization. Also demonstrate use of Git or equivalent source control, a platform-native solution supporting versioned deployment, or a documented configuration baseline maintained under change control.
  • Have two years of experience working directly with operational users, programme personnel, managers, or decision makers to identify information or analytical requirements and communicate findings, assumptions, limitations, risks, or decision implications.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Enabling Capabilities Portfolio, initially emphasizing Infrastructure Programmes, through hands-on data integration, data engineering, analytics, and decision-support activities.
  • Work directly with programme managers, portfolio staff, analysts, data owners, and other stakeholders to understand priority decisions, information requirements, existing data sources, data gaps, and opportunities to improve programme delivery through better use of data.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain repeatable data integration processes that ingest, transform, reconcile, and prepare information from multiple programme and enterprise sources for operational use and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain structured data models, common definitions, business rules, reference data, and data-quality controls needed to produce trusted programme- and portfolio-level information.
  • Design, prototype, configure, and improve digital data-collection applications and workflows that replace or materially reduce spreadsheet-intensive, manually consolidated, email-driven, or otherwise fragmented data operations.

About the company

SimIS delivers IT solutions for government and defense, specializing in modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems. Its M&S work uses cognitive systems engineering to create executable models and simulations; T&E validates system performance for DoD and DHS; cybersecurity includes compliance support such as CMMC. The company develops autonomous platforms in its robotics lab, including the SimIS Autonomous Maritime System (SAMS) and RiverScout, plus AI/ML, data analytics, software development, and 3D printing. Its model centers on securing prime government contracts and IDIQ vehicles, with services supported by a Tier 3 data center for hosting and managed IT services, aiming to help government customers model, test, secure, and deploy advanced systems.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • December 2025 SHIELD IDIQ win opens Missile Defense Agency and DoD pipelines.
  • August 2026 GSA MAS prime status supports recurring federal purchasing and cloud work.
  • September 2026 Constellis and I/ITSEC presence keeps SimIS visible to buyers and recruits.

What critics are saying

  • ICE office lease needs Suffolk Council approval; delays block a multi-year revenue stream.
  • MDA SHIELD positioning still depends on task orders, not guaranteed funded work.
  • Autonomy demos at I/ITSEC and Constellis do not prove production-scale adoption.

What makes SimIS unique

  • Veteran-owned Suffolk firm sells cleared modeling, simulation, cyber, and autonomy to defense customers.
  • GSA MAS prime contract 47QTCA23D0056 runs through February 2043, broadening federal access.
  • RiverScout and SAMS give SimIS owned robotics platforms, not just staff augmentation.
