Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • At least three years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with Quality as a primary function is required.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings or prints, inspecting components, and writing technical reports is required.
  • Proficiency using standard and metric tape measures, calipers, weld gauges, and other quality and inspection tools is required.
  • Must obtain Certified Individual/Quality Authorized Inspector (CI/QAI) and Liquid Penetrant certifications within 90 days in the position.
  • Must be able to work in various physical positions, including standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching, and may frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a medium industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, industrial odors, gases, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, vibration, climbing ladders or stairs, and working in close quarters.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to company Quality Control procedures related to overall inspection requirements.
  • Cooperate with production personnel and supervision to ensure maximum production with optimum quality as established by management.
  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and outgoing material, parts, and assemblies to specifications and mechanical prints, following standard shop practice and/or special instructions.
  • Perform specific calibrations, tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions, and record the results.
  • Initiate internal nonconformance reports (NCRs) and collaborate with Production to correct issues.
  • Dispose of rejected material appropriately.
  • Assist the Quality Manager and others in completing various projects and implementations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Perform inspection upon receipt of materials and recommend disposition.
  • Review finished products for conformance to mechanical prints.
  • Perform and audit in-process checks to ensure compliance with procedures and ASME Code regulations.
  • Work with other departments to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals.

Wieland has acquired Techni-Cast LLC, a South Gate, California-based centrifugal-casting foundry. Founded in 1954, the family-owned company operates two production sites with around 100 employees and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS9100 certifications for aerospace suppliers. Techni-Cast offers melting, centrifugal casting, heat treatment and precision machining services. The company's equipment includes CNC machines for tight-tolerance machining and conventional lathes for deburring, enabling delivery of fully processed components for critical applications in demanding markets. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
