Photo by: Courtesy photo Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026 | 7:35 a.m. Las Vegas is among the cities where Chuck E. Cheese plans to open Adventure World, its multilevel indoor playground, the company said today in a news release. The Las Vegas location is part of an expansion that will bring Adventure World to more than 20 communities across the U.S. in 2026 and 2027. The company did not announce an opening date or site for the Las Vegas location. The first Adventure World opened in Arlington, Texas, in November 2025 and quickly became one of the most successful openings in Chuck E. Cheese history, according to the company. Families said two features stood out: getting up close with Chuck E. and his friends in a new way, and the chance for children to invent their own adventures, the company said. Each Adventure World location offers 12,000 to 18,000 square feet or more of space for active play, dining and celebrations. Children can move through themed areas featuring Chuck E. Cheese characters, including Munch's Cosmic Bounce, which has a space theme; Bella's Castle Quest, a fairy tale theme; Jasper's Bubble Reef, an ocean theme; and Chuck E.'s Jungle Temple. Locations include climbing structures, slides, ball pits, obstacles, a toddler zone for smaller children, a giant video wall and a digital live show starring Chuck E. and his friends. Admission is a single price per child for all-day play. A food area called the Power Up Station, featuring the characters Pasqually and Helen Henny, serves popcorn, nachos, pizza and wings. The company's Kid Check system is designed to ensure that families who arrive together leave together. Adventure World also hosts birthday parties, with packages starting at $99.99 for six children. The venues are also available for field trips, playdates and group events. "Families have told us they want a place where kids can move and use their imagination all day, with food and celebrations built right in," said Randy Forsythe, president of Chuck E. Cheese. "That's exactly what we built. Now we get to share it with kids in a lot more cities." Other locations scheduled to open in 2026 are West Fargo, N.D., Chandler, Ariz., Rochester, N.Y., Houston and Plano, Texas. Locations planned for 2027 are Flint, Mich., MacArthur Park, Calif., Hawthorne, Calif., Crestwood, Ill., Lakewood, Colo., Chesterfield, Mo., and Los Angeles. The company also plans three Adventure World locations in Jalisco, Mexico.

Chuck E. Cheese shuts down longtime Toledo arcade after lease expires.

Chuck E. Cheese shuts down longtime Toledo arcade after lease expires. September 6, 2026 The Chuck E. Cheese restaurant on Airport Highway in Toledo, Ohio, has closed its doors after more than three decades, leaving local families mourning the loss of a beloved community staple and raising questions about what comes next for classic American entertainment venues. After serving generations of families and children, the Chuck E. Cheese location at 5455 Airport Highway in the Swan Creek Plaza closed for good after its final day of service on a recent Monday. The company attributed the decision to an expiring lease and confirmed that its other Toledo restaurant on Monroe Street would remain open. No replacement tenant for the Airport Highway building has been announced. For many in Toledo, this particular Chuck E. Cheese was more than just a pizza place, it was a destination for birthday parties, family gatherings, and the kind of old-fashioned arcade fun that is increasingly hard to find. Destiny Govan, a local mother, described what the closure means for her young daughter: "This is like her favorite spot to play," she told WTOL. "This is where she came out of her shell." Govan recalled the nostalgia of the animatronic shows and games, saying, "Just the nostalgia of it, seeing them move and singing, and she's never seen anything like that before." The Airport Highway restaurant first opened in 1993 and featured more than 50 games alongside party rooms capable of hosting hundreds of guests, according to the company website. Animatronic entertainment has been a core part of Chuck E. Cheese's brand since its beginnings in San Jose, California, in 1977. The company's famous Munch's Make Believe Band stage debuted in 1990, and both Toledo locations opened three years later, marking the city as an early adopter of the chain's signature family experience. Kristen Zippe, another longtime customer and mother, shared how both her children celebrated birthdays at the restaurant this year, with her daughter Kylie's party held there as recently as August 18. "We're very sad because this is our home, Chuck E.," Zippe said, highlighting the deep ties many locals felt to the now-shuttered venue. Chuck E. Cheese points to lease, promises continued presence in Toledo. The company cited the expiring lease as the reason for closing the Airport Highway location, a move that will leave a gap in the Swan Creek Plaza shopping center. Despite the closure, a statement from Chuck E. Cheese said that Toledo remains an important market and that it will continue seeking promising locations for its "different experiences." The Monroe Street restaurant, which also opened in 1993, will remain in operation, giving families at least one remaining option in the city for the time being. No direct quote from a company representative was included in the reporting by The Sun, and the exact calendar date of the last day of service was not specified. It is also not yet clear who, if anyone, will take over the Airport Highway space or how soon Chuck E. Cheese might open another location in the area. The end of an era for American arcade nostalgia. The closure of a long-running Chuck E. Cheese is about more than just a business decision or a changing lease. For many families, it represents the fading of a unique kind of American entertainment, one built around affordable fun, safe spaces for children, and hands-on games that don't require a smartphone or a streaming subscription. The classic Chuck E. Cheese formula, with its animatronic band and arcade games, has been a fixture in American life for nearly half a century. As more traditional entertainment venues shut down, often citing rising costs or changing consumer habits, communities across the country are left with fewer places where families can gather for simple, wholesome fun. The loss is felt most by parents and children who cherished these spaces as reliable sites for celebration, growth, and shared memories. When once-vibrant family institutions close, it's a reminder that the best parts of American community life aren't guaranteed, they depend on strong local economies, sensible business conditions, and respect for the traditions that bring people together.
