Requirements

  • Experience with sourcing and managing the following commodity suppliers: composites (mid to high volume), aerospace wing, fuselage, and flight surface composite manufacturing experience a plus, small gasoline engine propulsion - Aerospace, electric, electronic and electro-mechanical components; established relationships with key franchised distributors including Arrow, Avnet, TTI, etc., avionics including flight GPS systems, flight controllers and autopilot systems, wire harness manufacturing
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required
  • Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: Global supply chain experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement material strategies for specific projects or programs.
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand material requirements and timelines.
  • Create and maintain material delivery schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to negotiate contracts and secure materials in a timely manner.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers and address any supply chain disruptions or issues.
  • Manage the material budget for the program, ensuring material costs stay within approved limits.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, including supplier negotiations and process improvements.
  • Track and report on material expenditures, variances, and forecasts.
  • Proactively identify risks related to material shortages, supplier disruptions, or market fluctuations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including alternative sourcing and buffer stock planning.
  • Monitor supply chain performance to anticipate potential delays and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams and suppliers to address material issues and drive resolutions.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to ensure materials meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier on-time delivery, and supplier performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of material orders, deliveries, and costs.
  • Provide regular status updates to program leadership on material availability, risks, and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations for material management
  • Perform other duties as required.

The company is significantly expanding its Tampa manufacturing facilities, expecting to more than double production capacity over the next year. The new footprint will include space for high-volume production, additive manufacturing, and Uncrewed Surface Vehicle operations. Chief Executive Officer Roger Wells said customers increasingly seek proven autonomous systems deliverable at scale on shorter timelines. The investments aim to expand manufacturing capacity and customer-facing infrastructure to support rapid scaling. The Tampa location enhances AEVEX's proximity to key customers and partners within a major US defence hub. The Virginia expansion strengthens customer collaboration capabilities with US government clients and industry partners.

AEVEX acquires BlackSea Technologies for up to $650M to expand multi-domain autonomous systems

AEVEX Corp. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire BlackSea Technologies, a major provider of unmanned surface and subsea vessels in the US defence market. The deal is valued at up to $650 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis, comprising approximately $250 million in cash, $350 million in AEVEX Class A common stock, and $50 million in performance-based earnout consideration. The acquisition is expected to close in September 2026, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions. BlackSea is expected to generate $150 million in revenue for fiscal year 2026. The combined entity will create one of the industry's most comprehensive autonomous systems portfolios, spanning air, surface and subsea domains. AEVEX intends to integrate its CompassX autonomy ecosystem with BlackSea's maritime platforms, whilst combining manufacturing capabilities across multiple US facilities.

AEVEX appoints Chelsey Thomas as VP of government affairs

AEVEX Corp. has appointed Chelsey Thomas as Vice President of Government Affairs. Thomas will lead the company's government engagement strategy at federal and local levels, strengthen Capitol Hill relationships, and help shape policy outcomes. AVEX scores $50M US Air Force contract, shares surge 16% on defence win

Aevex Corp. announced a $50 million contract from the US Air Force to expand unmanned mission-support capabilities. The award includes $27 million in initial funding and will support production of Aevex's long-range precision strike platform designed for GPS-denied environments. The defence technology company shares jumped nearly 16.44% on the announcement. Aevex reported first-quarter revenue of $216.7 million, up 307% year-over-year, with net profit of $21 million compared to a year-ago loss of $27.3 million. The company guided for full-year 2026 revenue of $600 million to $620 million. Analysts give Aevex a "Strong Buy" rating with an average price target of $35.75, implying 72.8% upside from current levels.
