We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Van Driver to provide transportation for participants attending our Adult Day Health Programs in Fall River.
This part-time position offers 30+ hours per week with a pay range of $18.00 to $19.00 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday and consists of a split shift, with driving routes typically lasting 3 to 4 hours each within a service window of 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Adult Day Health Program is a medically-based program that helps the participant remain independent while promoting good health and well being.
Job Responsibilities:
- Transport program participants according to established safety rules and road regulations, set by D.O.T.
- Ensure all required safety equipment is present, secured, and fully stocked before each route.
- Assist participants with entering and exiting the vehicle and escort them to and from their residence or destination using appropriate safety techniques and equipment, including gait belts when required.
- Secure all walkers, canes, and wheelchairs safely within the vehicle.
- Ensure all passengers have secured seatbelts and wheelchair restraints on at all times.
- Complete the daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspection sheets.
- Follow the Vehicle Maintenance Protocols and inform either the Assistant Transportation Coordinator or Transportation Coordinator of all service needs.
- Maintain a daily transportation log (route sheet) that includes drop off/ pick up times and participant attendance.
- Keep exterior and interior of vehicle clean and free of potentially hazardous materials.
- Report all accidents, major or minor, to the Transportation Coordinator.
- Serve as a driver for outings at various Adult Day Health Programs.
- Submit weekly trip reports consisting of mileage and gas receipts.
Education and Experience:- Experience with either elders or the disabled (ADH).
- Maintain a valid drivers license with good driving record/proven record of vehicle safety.
- Possess the ability to safely push, pull, load, and unload participants requiring wheelchairs.
- Possess the ability to work with others as part of a team and communicate effectively.
- Successfully pass a preemployment drug test in addition to being enrolled in a drug consortium for random testing.
- Complete and maintain CPR and First Aid certified.
- Experience driving commercial vehicles preferred.
**Must be able to successfully complete a MA State CORI check, CPS check and company paid, pre-employment physical, drug testing and be enrolled in our drug and alcohol testing consortium.**
