About the job

Requirements
  • Ten years or more of experience in payments, mostly on the banking and payment-rails side.
  • Have been accountable for payment infrastructure in production, rather than only advising on it.
  • Have architectural literacy across payment rails, ledgers, settlement, scheme access, and core platforms, without needing to build the infrastructure personally.
  • Have a track record of challenging vendors on roadmap, scope, and price and achieving a favorable outcome.
  • Have current, verifiable relationships across sponsor banks, scheme operators, and infrastructure providers.
  • Have worked inside a regulated bank, electronic money institution, or payment institution, and be comfortable operating under supervision.
  • Be credible with both a board and engineers.
  • Have a genuine interest in how payments work now and where they are heading.
Responsibilities
  • Own Solance's payment rails and core platform strategy, including which rails and access models to use, which partners to work with, over what horizon, and at what cost.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and challenge vendors where needed to influence decisions and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain durable knowledge of the payment infrastructure, including maps, dependency registers, and vendor scorecards.
  • Determine whether to pursue direct participation in payment systems, and frame the decision's timeline and cost.
  • Travel regularly to meet sponsor banks, scheme operators, and industry bodies.
