Requirements
  • A DEC diploma in nursing sciences and a valid professional license are required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or medical setting is strongly desired.
  • Recent, relevant experience in both the short-term care unit and emergency department is required.
  • Good knowledge of English is required because the population is predominantly English-speaking.
  • Training in the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale is required.
  • Availability to work in both departments is required.
  • The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Provide quality nursing care to patients in a hospital setting.
  • Assess patients’ medical and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Use the Epic system to document care and track patients’ progress.
  • Communicate effectively with families about patients’ health and needs.
  • Participate in case management to ensure continuity of care.
  • Train and supervise auxiliary staff, as applicable.
