  • Strong intuition for which data to collect, filter, or synthesize and how to measure its effect on model improvement.
  • Ability to translate research objectives into concrete specifications and turn messy outputs into actionable insights for researchers and engineers.
  • Ability to diagnose subtle data-quality issues and failure modes with strong attention to detail.
  • Python proficiency.
  • Ability to design quality systems including rubrics, validation scripts, gold sets, sampling strategies, statistical checks, slice-based evaluation, and human-in-the-loop review loops grounded in measurable criteria.
Responsibilities
  • Translate research goals into data requirements, including target skills, failure modes, difficulty calibration, coverage, and success metrics.
  • Create detailed rubrics, counterexamples, and boundary cases defining what data to include or exclude.
  • Audit produced data for subtle errors, reward-hacking opportunities, leakage, ambiguity, inconsistent assumptions, and distribution shifts.
  • Drive iterative improvements using error taxonomies, slice-based quality metrics, and model-behavior-informed refinements.
  • Design task suites, ground-truth signals such as verifiers, unit tests, structured checks, reward functions and automatic validators, and environment interfaces such as APIs, tool schemas, state abstractions, database schemas and simulator-like dynamics.
  • Build data reflecting real development work for coding agents, including codebase navigation, bug localization, patching, tests, code reviews, continuous-integration constraints, refactors, and security fixes, as applicable to the capability area.

  • Implement automated data validation and filtering, including deduplication, decontamination, leakage checks, format and schema consistency checks, invariant checks, and difficulty and diversity controls for coverage, novelty, and long-tail cases.
  • Develop synthetic data generation and augmentation pipelines, including programmatic task generators, controlled perturbations for hard negatives, scenario templates with diversity constraints, and simulator- or tool-driven rollouts for trajectory data, as appropriate.
  • Create dataset documentation and data cards describing intent, known limitations, recommended use, and evaluation linkage.
  • Design and run evaluations reflecting customers’ intended usage.
  • Analyze how data affects outcomes through pre- and post-comparisons on targeted capability slices, error breakdowns, explanations of model failures, and ablations identifying data attributes that drive improvement.
  • When needed, run in-house fine-tuning or reinforcement-learning-style experiments, or partner with research, to demonstrate measurable improvements in model behavior from the data or environment.
  • Work with engineers, researchers, quality-assurance staff, domain subject-matter experts, and large-scale data-production groups by providing clear specifications, examples, and edge cases; fast feedback based on audits and quantitative signals; and structured quality-focused review processes.

Turing appoints Ece Kamar as Chief Technology Officer.

Turing appoints Ece Kamar as Chief Technology Officer. * September 2, 2026 Turing, the superintelligence accelerator driving economic progress from artificial intelligence, named Ece Kamar as Chief Technology Officer today. In her new role, Kamar leads technology and research strategy across Turing's frontier AI and enterprise AI businesses. Furthermore, she will sharpen the connection between frontier lab requirements and enterprise implementation. Ece Kamar's extensive background at Microsoft. Kamar joins Turing after 16 years at Microsoft. Most recently, she served as Corporate Vice President leading the AI Frontiers Lab at Microsoft Research. In that position, Kamar led a non-geographical, mission-focused lab. The lab explores foundation model innovations alongside platform capabilities. Consequently, her team pushed the boundaries of AI capabilities, efficiency, and control. Additionally, Kamar drove research in technologies ranging from base models to agentic systems. She built vital bridges between research teams and product units. Moreover, she delivered cutting-edge technology and high-performing teams to advance corporate goals. Scientifically, Kamar holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Harvard University. Previously, she earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from Sabanci University. Leadership perspectives on the new appointment. "Ece is an outstanding addition to our senior leadership team. She has spent her career leading where AI research is headed next, and building the tools, benchmarks, and open source work that help the field get there," said Jonathan Siddharth, CEO and founder of Turing. "Ece has a rare ability to see around corners in AI research and translate that foresight into systems the whole community relies on. As Turing helps frontier labs and enterprises close the gap between research and real-world deployment, Ece will help us build the frontier where both sides meet." "AI research doesn't happen in an isolated academic community anymore. It requires being embedded in the real world with real customers, real users and the real builders of AI systems and Turing is a leader in this," said Kamar. "Turing sits at a unique vantage point, between the frontier labs and where they're headed next, and the many enterprises that are struggling with AI transformation. They want to harness the technology but often don't know how, and I believe that is the most interesting place to innovate. I look forward to working with Jonathan and the team to help organizations navigate this transformation and realize AI's potential to change the world." Expanding real-world AI impact. Turing operates two main business divisions that rely on converting advanced research into practical application. First, Turing helps top AI labs improve model capabilities in software engineering, knowledge work, and STEM fields. Second, Turing helps Fortune 500 companies deploy agentic AI systems with complete sovereignty and governance. As CTO, Kamar shapes the research agenda across both divisions. Therefore, she will oversee new initiatives exploring how AI agents collaborate with each other and human teams.
