Requirements
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • A solid and mature Christian faith is required; Salvationist affiliation and attendance at the Corps are preferred.
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years old.
  • Experience in music and arts is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are required.
  • The candidate must treat all people with compassion and respect.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and appropriate intervention skills within The Salvation Army are required.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to drive for The Salvation Army are required.
  • The candidate must complete a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • The candidate must complete Pennsylvania-approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training before employment.
  • The candidate must understand and support The Salvation Army's mission.
Responsibilities
  • Invest in the lives of young people and their families by developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities.
  • Conduct ongoing evangelical ministry to introduce children and their families to Jesus Christ.
  • Provide environments and ministry opportunities in which children, teens, and young adults can grow and mature in their faith and develop a walk of holiness.
  • Provide visionary leadership for children's, teen, young adult, and family ministries at The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region Corps.
  • Develop and lead Christ-centered programs that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, outreach, and family engagement.
  • Build meaningful relationships throughout the community.
  • Oversee youth ministries, music and arts, recreation, nursery operations, volunteer leadership, and evangelistic programming.
  • Connect individuals and families to the life of the church.
  • Collaborate across departments as part of the ministry leadership team.
  • Participate in community outreach and Salvation Army events.
  • Support Sunday worship and Christian education.
  • Advance The Salvation Army's mission through compassionate service and intentional discipleship.
