Requirements
  • An active Professional Engineering license is required.
  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a similar field, is required.
  • Knowledge of building materials, codes, construction methods, and common modes of failure is required.
  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines is required.
  • Availability to readily accept assignments and perform site inspections within 5–7 days is required.
  • Technical proficiency across multiple software platforms, tools, equipment, and investigative techniques is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability are required.
  • Experience completing forensic investigations, root cause analysis, commissioning, condition assessments, and correlating weather-related damage is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering failure analysis to determine the causes and origins of damage, fires, electrocutions, and equipment failures.
  • Perform site evaluations, field analysis, and assessments of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Evaluate failures resulting from hail or wind damage, lightning strikes, freeze events, machinery breakdown, wear and tear, general construction failures, improper maintenance, improper installation, or product defects, and provide recommendations for remediation and repair.
  • Safely access roofs, attics, and crawl spaces to photograph and document areas of interest.
  • Identify and interview witnesses and other key parties involved.
  • Prepare and submit findings and recommendations for resolving insurance claims or litigation matters.
