Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing or a Master's in Physician Assistant studies is required.
  • A State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license is required.
  • Certification as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) must be achieved within two years from the hire date.
  • Employees must be vaccinated or have laboratory-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella, and must receive an annual flu vaccine or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the point person in collaboration with the clinical navigator for a specific group of patients.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with physician specialists, nurses, social workers, primary care physicians, and other professionals involved in oncology care.
  • Coordinate physician specialist and ancillary services for multidisciplinary clinics.
  • Communicate with patients and other providers regarding the plan of care.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary tumor conferences and delegate tasks to and supervise the clinical navigator for assigned tumor sites.
  • Coordinate close-to-home care when possible.
  • Work with affiliate sites to provide clinical consultation and direction, functioning as a liaison between outreach staff, physicians, and patients.
  • Establish individualized survivorship plans with patients, oncology physicians, and primary care providers.
  • Maintain knowledge of available clinical trials and assist patients, physicians, and clinical research staff with patient enrollment and ongoing study requirements.
  • Develop partnerships and processes that promote a culture of research for the oncology program.

  • Experience in oncology is preferred but not required.
