About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in product management, technical product delivery, or software engineering, with a track record of owning complex, business-critical product areas.
  • Deep domain expertise in developer tools, client libraries, database drivers, object-relational or object-document mappers, or application framework integrations.
  • Strong technical fluency in at least one major programming language and familiarity with how developers construct applications using drivers, object-relational mappers, or object-document mappers.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound product and roadmap decisions under ambiguity using incomplete signals such as support issues, usage telemetry, and community sentiment.
  • Track record of building actionable business cases, including adoption modeling and financial justification for new product capabilities or ecosystem investments.
  • Proven ability to identify delivery, technical, and operational risks early across complex cross-team dependencies.
  • Ability to influence cross-functionally without direct reporting authority, deliver direct and transparent messages to senior stakeholders, and pitch to business unit owners internally and externally.
  • Strong oral, written, and customer-facing presentation skills, with experience managing high-stakes enterprise customer and developer community conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Convert company and organizational strategy into a compelling vision and multi-year roadmap for the Client Libraries portfolio, making independent prioritization decisions under incomplete information about major languages driving MongoDB Atlas growth, fast-growing object-document mappers, and strategic language communities.
  • Maintain deep market and customer knowledge across a complex domain, interpreting signals across developers, framework maintainers, and enterprise buyers to anticipate unstated customer needs and competitive dynamics, including changes in developer expectations driven by AI-native tooling.
  • Turn ambiguous or untapped opportunities within or adjacent to the domain, such as new language drivers, framework integrations, or driver capabilities, into actionable business cases that address packaging, adoption strategy, and MongoDB Atlas revenue implications.
  • Keep delivery on track across complex product surfaces by identifying technical, enablement, and operational risks early across engineering teams and making high-stakes delivery decisions independently.
  • Drive go-to-market messaging strategy alongside Product Marketing and anticipate enablement or positioning gaps, leading cross-functional work that includes engaging with developer communities, joining sales calls, and publishing blog posts before major launches or key deals.
  • Independently own and resolve complex post-launch customer escalations, such as connection handling, API ergonomics, performance, or compatibility issues, balancing maintenance investment against new development and treating product health issues as strategic risks.
  • Deliver difficult or incomplete messages directly across leadership levels with a clear point of view, using reasoned arguments and data to influence without authority, including explaining the rationale behind what will and will not be built.
  • Manage high-stakes enterprise customer conversations independently, convert pain points into roadmap contributions, and involve leadership when trade-offs extend beyond the domain.
  • Mentor more junior product managers in developing roadmap judgment, customer intuition, and trade-off framing, helping them move from reporting facts to defending clear points of view.

Desired Qualifications

  • Direct experience building, maintaining, or driving product strategy for a database driver, object-relational or object-document mapper, or client library used by external developers.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB or with how object-document mapper and framework ecosystems such as EF Core, Hibernate, Laravel, Django, or Spring Data relate to an underlying database's driver layer.
  • Familiarity with how AI-native tooling, including agent frameworks and AI software development kits embedded in traditional frameworks, is reshaping developer expectations of client libraries.

About the Company

MongoDB

Builds document databases for software teams

MongoDB builds databases for software teams that need to store and retrieve application data without fitting every record into fixed rows and columns. Its flagship Atlas service runs the database in the cloud and combines it with tools for search, real-time analytics and AI retrieval. Data is stored as flexible documents, letting developers change an application's structure while keeping related information together. Customers pay for cloud resources and usage, or buy Enterprise Advanced subscriptions to run the software themselves with monitoring, management tools and technical support. MongoDB was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in New York City.
