About Inclined
Inclined is building a technology platform focused on driving better long-term outcomes for whole life insurance policy holders. Our mission is to help people get more value out of their whole life investment, while transforming a trillion-dollar industry ready to benefit from modern technology. We’re a well-funded venture backed start-up founded by industry veterans from software, finance, and life insurance.
About the Role
As a full-stack engineer you’ll work across our product, from implementing user interactions to building background jobs. You’ll design and develop core product features and oversee them as we scale to move billions of dollars on our platform. You’ll be joining a team of veteran engineers who have experienced the journey of successfully building a product from scratch.
As part of a small team you’ll help evolve our engineering culture, processes, and technical direction. You’ll have first-hand exposure to the development of the business and you’ll provide key input to areas beyond engineering, such as product, growth, and operations.
We’re a distributed team with headquarters in Sausalito, California and Denver, Colorado. We value team members who are committed to working collaboratively. We support each other through asynchronous communication via Slack and regular synchronous developer chats. We respect the work-life balance of our teammates, and due to the nature of working across time zones, we value engineers who can progress independently.
Project Lead
One aspect of engineering at Inclined is that every engineer rotates through being a project lead, starting with smaller features and moving on to larger ones. In addition to implementation, the project lead is responsible for overseeing a project, such as defining its scope, coordinating the team’s tasks, and monitoring and communicating progress. The role often requires partnering with product and design to gather deep domain knowledge from the field in order to best plan a course of action. Recent project lead work includes:
Updating our core underwriting engine
Supporting an additional life insurance carrier
Introducing 2FA for improved account protection
Automating the handling of new document type
You’re a good fit for this role if you have:
3+ years of experience as an engineer shipping products
Experience with data modeling
Experience with TypeScript
Interest in becoming an expert in a domain few in Silicon Valley understand
Bonus if you have:
Experience in our tech stack (although we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework)
Experience with a product that moves money
Proficiency with SQL
Our Tech Stack:
Next.js and React/Typescript on the frontend
GraphQL for API
Node/Typescript, Prisma, and Postgres on the backend
Heroku, AWS, and terraform for hosting and deployment
dbt for reporting and daily data integrations
