Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Maintain a Group 1 License.
  • Demonstrated participation in completed segments of the Registered Health Underwriter, Group Benefits Associate, or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist continuing-education path.
  • Possess operational knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and current internet technologies.
  • Ability to travel to meet client service needs.
  • Ability to speak professionally and comfortably in front of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours when necessary to meet client needs, including monitoring email and answering important emails and calls after hours and on weekends.
  • Ability to service clients, vendors, and coworkers effectively through problem solving, confidentiality, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact.
  • Ability to proactively manage tasks and demonstrate leadership with clients in the overall administration of benefits programs.
  • Mastery-level knowledge of fully insured benefits products, services, market dynamics, and carriers/vendors.
  • Functional knowledge of wellness programs and client advocacy concepts.
Responsibilities
  • Manage client insurance programs using the agency management system.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the Producer, clients, carriers, vendors, Account Managers, and other service teams.
  • Share knowledge, provide instruction, and delegate tasks according to the Benefits Timeline.
  • Inform the Producer of upcoming deadlines and events.
  • Maintain client files according to department guidelines.
  • Manage workflows and administration according to the Benefits Timeline.
  • Manage and monitor administration of client benefit programs.
  • Research and answer questions regarding client benefit plans, claims, and billings.
  • Coordinate or deliver wellness presentations explaining vendor capabilities.
  • Provide direction and guidance to team members when appropriate.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Manage renewal bid and request-for-proposal strategy and processes.
  • Manage ongoing carrier, third-party administrator, and vendor renewal negotiations on clients' behalf.
  • Oversee marketing binders, carrier follow-up, market spreadsheets, and vendor performance.
  • Stay current on carrier plans and websites.
  • Negotiate with carriers on cost and program design.
  • Assist the bSwift team with requirements documentation and client website setup.
  • Ensure adherence to the MMA Benefit Timeline Checklist and appropriate client service levels.
  • Oversee communication booklets and client presentation materials.
  • Coordinate, present, and attend client, enrollment, mid-year, and renewal meetings.
  • Develop stewardship reports using workflows in BenefitPoint.
  • Gather and analyze ICAF, Milliman, Aggregate, and DMW reports.
  • Initiate correspondence with clients and ensure timely delivery or mailing.
  • Visit clients for meetings, information gathering, policy delivery, payment collection, and other service needs.
  • Delegate and monitor Account Manager and outsourcing-team tasks.
  • Ensure actions and services are documented and filed in ImageRight.
  • Review Summary Plan Descriptions and ensure corrections and updates are completed before final delivery.
  • Personally check all client policies.
  • Oversee compliance activities involving benefit, healthcare reform, self-funded SPD, stop-loss, and administrative-agreement checklists.
  • Oversee compliance for Schedule A requests, Form 5500, Medicare Part D disclosures, CMS reporting, HIPAA, ERISA, and COBRA.
  • Review first post-renewal bills to confirm rates and enrollment counts.
  • Ensure Account Manager and outsourcing-team tasks are completed as directed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Client Services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three to four years of Benefits Account Manager experience for internal candidates.
  • Three to five years of small-market Benefits Account Executive experience for external candidates.
  • Five to seven years of Account Executive experience if the candidate does not hold a designation.
  • Bilingual Spanish capability.
  • Experience or completed segments in the RHU, GBA, or CEBS continuing-education path.
