Requirements
  • At least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment, including successful completion of jobs or similar activities requiring control of a mechanical process and inspection of product to meet quality standards.
  • Demonstrated compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work safely and communicate with others in a professional manner.
  • Ability to determine product quality, including carton malformations, color verification, and structural integrity.
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient for product handling.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs, ladders, and platforms.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment involving hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment.

  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform job duties at the hot press, floatline, printer, and wrapper to produce molded fiber egg cartons to customer specifications.
  • Follow documented safety, quality, and production procedures.
  • Ensure continuous operation of the mechanical hot press to achieve production goals.
  • Restore flow when the hot press stops or encounters issues.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate mechanical issues to the hot press mechanic and management.
  • Identify and remove defective cartons from the decline conveyor and outfeed.
  • Respond immediately to alarms concerning carton jams.
  • Assist with hand-feeding cartons into the line as needed to increase productivity and decrease scrap.
  • Use tools such as dowel rods and picks properly.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and a safe work area.
  • Assist with carton pickup at the outfeed when the printer stops.
  • Maintain the workstation until relieved.
  • Assist with cleanup of the oven area during line startup and downtime.
  • Address and report safety issues or hazards immediately.
  • Verify the final product against a visual representation to ensure cartons are made to order.
  • Ensure bundle tags are accurate, including the stamp, and placed appropriately.
  • Communicate quality defects to the printer mechanic and management.
  • Wipe down plates as necessary.
  • Assist with picking up cartons on the line during downtime.
  • Wrap completed bundles.
  • Verify order paperwork and sign plate change forms.
  • Empty oven run-out stackers.
  • Collect scrap and place it in appropriate bins.
  • Respond immediately to oven jams.
  • Check product alignment from the oven onto the conveyor and resolve alignment issues.
  • Assist with reducing production scrap levels.
  • Assist with emptying scrap bins from the hot press.
  • Maintain effective communication with the hot press mechanic.
  • Inform the natural team leader and/or production supervisor of problems.
  • Maintain safety and attendance records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Novolex names new chief commercial transformation and strategy officer. Dan Debicella will work alongside Chuck Whittington, Novolex's chief transformation officer, who is due to retire. Packaging group Novolex has appointed Dan Debicella as chief commercial transformation and strategy officer. He will oversee the company's group-wide growth plan, help advance its commercial agenda and support integration work. Debicella will work alongside Chuck Whittington, Novolex's chief transformation officer, who is due to retire at the end of the year after more than 33 years at the company. Whittington will stay on during the handover period to support continuity in integration efforts. According to the company, Debicella will work with teams across the organisation to reinforce commercial functions and introduce more uniform sales processes, aiming to "accelerate" growth. Novolex CEO and chairman Stan Bikulege said: "Dan is a proven transformation leader who delivers measurable results. "He has strengthened commercial execution and scaled performance across multiple companies. He will sharpen our commercial capabilities and help us move faster, execute better and deliver stronger outcomes for our customers, employees and stakeholders." Debicella has more than 25 years of experience in transformation and growth roles in several industries. Most recently, he was president of the Graphics Solutions Division at SGS & Co.
