Requirements
  • An associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate construction field installation activities with project and division managers, emphasizing labor productivity, quality, timely installations, employee morale, and jobsite safety.
  • Study specifications and plan construction procedures based on starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each construction phase.
  • Maintain an adequate field workforce on each project through input from project and division managers.
  • Monitor field labor productivity to meet job-cost budgets.
  • Monitor and assist with scheduling fabrication-shop activities, including shipment dates and shipment accuracy.
  • Coordinate project and material needs to maintain piping and sheet-metal field labor productivity.
  • Provide hands-on jobsite assistance to field crews for high-volume field-labor tasks.
  • Assist onsite field mechanics with work sequencing and material planning.
  • Provide hands-on jobsite assistance with setting boilers, chillers, pumps, air-handling devices, fans, and other critical equipment.
  • Assist in developing field mechanics through onsite and classroom training.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and service calls on installed systems when required.
  • Monitor equipment rentals for optimal use.
  • Assist the project manager and field mechanics with room-and-board rates and travel arrangements, and help ensure the vehicle-expense budget is met.
  • Schedule, monitor, and correct subcontractor progress and performance as needed.
  • Prepare written evaluations for field personnel.
  • Recommend salary adjustments to the division manager for review.
  • Review and approve weekly field timesheets.
  • Hire and terminate field employees as required.
  • Procure tools and materials for delivery at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Manage 8 to 10 subordinate supervisors who supervise construction employees.
  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate subordinate units in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints; and resolve problems.
