EPA study validates Reworld® facility destroys 99% of PFAS 'forever chemicals' in waste

Reworld has released results from a US Environmental Protection Agency study conducted at its Lake County Thermomechanical Treatment Facility in Florida, validating the effectiveness of PFAS destruction. The study, carried out in spring 2024, showed the facility's process destroyed up to 99% of a conservative surrogate compound harder to eliminate than other PFAS. The findings support Reworld's recently launched ReAssure PFAS Destruction service, which offers approximately 17 million tonnes of processing capacity through facilities operating above 1,100°C. The service includes access to over 50 material processing facilities, wastewater treatment, and logistics coordination. PFAS contamination stems from thousands of everyday products including carpets, textiles, and packaging that end up in municipal solid waste streams.

Reworld launches ReAssure with 17M tons capacity to destroy PFAS at 99% efficiency

Reworld has launched ReAssure PFAS Destruction, offering approximately 17 million tonnes of processing capacity for PFAS-containing materials through its network of Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities across the United States. The company claims this represents the nation's largest full-scale PFAS destruction capacity. Reworld's facilities process waste at temperatures above 1,100°C, demonstrating 99% destruction and removal of PFAS according to testing campaigns. The company operates over 50 material processing facilities that prepare non-bulk PFAS waste for delivery to treatment facilities, alongside wastewater treatment and logistics services. ReAssure addresses growing concerns about PFAS, commonly known as "forever chemicals", which the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry says are present in nearly all Americans' blood. The service provides permanent destruction rather than landfill storage.
