About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in power electronics design for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems is required.
  • Proven experience designing DC/DC converters, low-dropout regulators, and power distribution systems is required.
  • A strong understanding of analog and digital control-loop compensation and stability analysis is required.
  • Experience with fault-protection design and safe operating area analysis is required.
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE, LTSpice, or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of component derating standards and radiation tolerance considerations for space applications is required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends during critical periods is expected.
Responsibilities
  • Design DC/DC converter power stages, including switching device selection, filter design, driver circuits, and magnetics.
  • Develop battery management and charge regulation circuits with appropriate safety, cycle-life, and charging-profile considerations.
  • Perform control-loop modeling and compensation for analog and digitally controlled power supplies.
  • Design fault-protection circuits, including overcurrent break, current clamp, overvoltage clamp, crowbar, and foldback protection.
  • Implement current, voltage, and temperature sensing circuits with filtering, threshold triggers, and analog-to-digital converter integration.
  • Perform component derating analysis and design for radiation tolerance across all power subsystems.
  • Develop load accounting, mode-based power consumption estimates, and concept-of-operations power budgets.
  • Design power distribution networks with DC load switches, telemetry, and protection for multiple subsystem loads.
  • Collaborate with printed circuit board layout engineers on power supply layout optimization, including loop area minimization, noise reduction, and switching node management.
  • Support FPGA and digital teams with power supply sequencing, support circuitry, and power integrity requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with satellite or spacecraft power subsystems, including PDU, BMS, BCR, and solar array interfaces.
  • Background in lithium-ion battery performance, safety, and packaging considerations.
  • Experience with motor-drive design and inductive-load drivers such as solenoids and magnetorquers.
  • Familiarity with orbit-geometry analysis for power-balance and eclipse-cycle planning.
  • Understanding of solar panel current-voltage characteristics, harvesting topologies, and degradation modeling.
  • Supply-chain awareness, including long-lead component identification and pre-buy strategies.
  • Experience with SPICE-based circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture.
  • Experience with HyperLynx PI for power integrity analysis.
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python for control-loop modeling and power budget analysis.

What believers are saying

  • Arlington approved E-Space’s 30-year lease, signaling unusually strong local government backing.
  • Beyon and e& partnerships validate satellite IoT demand across Bahrain and Gulf operators.
  • The company’s sustainability pitch matches rising enterprise demand for cheaper, lower-impact connectivity.

What critics are saying

  • Arlington’s Spring 2027 build depends on $115 million public spending and strict hiring milestones.
  • E-Space disclosed only $50 million funding, far below its massive constellation ambitions.
  • If Arlington slips or capital dries up, E-Space becomes a perpetual concept company.

What makes E-Space unique

  • Greg Wyler’s patented LEO design targets zero-trust, gateway-free satellite networking.
  • CommAgility integration gives E-Space 5G NTN source code and payload development depth.
  • Arlington’s 2025 headquarters plan ties manufacturing, hangars, and satellite R&D together.
