Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
Responsibilities
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports into unit and person-hour figures.
  • Provide technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval.
  • Review the final estimate to ensure the defined work aligns with the overall project schedule and cost goals.
  • Prepare discipline estimates by completing a takeoff of the scope of work.
  • Calculate material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
  • Monitor client addenda and advise the estimating team of changes during the estimate period.
  • Assist with design review options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
  • Partner with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit team and project management team.
  • Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in the construction industry, estimating, or cost control.
  • Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
  • Growing knowledge of alternative construction delivery methods.
