Philadelphia cyclotron to give Telix a dedicated source of rare alpha isotope.

Philadelphia cyclotron to give Telix a dedicated source of rare alpha isotope. Telix has partnered with a new Franco-Belgian venture to produce astatine-211 in the United States. The isotope is scarce but is being studied closely as a new way to deliver radiation straight to cancer cells. The collaboration is with Ekalia, a joint venture between Belgian cyclotron maker IBA and French nuclear group Framatome. The first of IBA's alpha-beam cyclotrons will be installed and run at Telix's RLS Radiopharmacies site in Trevose, near Philadelphia. Astatine-211 is an alpha-emitting radioisotope under investigation for targeted alpha therapy. In this approach, a drug carries a radioactive payload directly to a tumour. The partners describe the isotope as promising for new cancer treatments, but say limited production capacity has held back wider use. Their answer is a network of production sites close to the clinical centres that need the isotope. Ekalia chief executive Bruno Scutnaire said the technology was designed to put production where it is needed. "IBA's specialised alpha-beam cyclotron technology is designed to enable reliable astatine-211 production at the point of need. Building on our work with Framatome in Europe, Telix's U.S. infrastructure enables us to move faster towards establishing our first U.S. production unit, while laying the foundations for Ekalia's broader development in the country." The deal brings the IBA-Framatome partnership, set up in Europe to produce astatine-211 at industrial scale, into the US. Each company brings something different. IBA supplies the cyclotron technology and Framatome its nuclear and isotope production expertise. Telix contributes its US radiopharmacy network and "last-mile" distribution, along with its clinical portfolio and drug development capability.

Telix and Ekalia team up to produce astatine-211 in the US for cancer therapy

Telix Pharmaceuticals and Ekalia, a joint venture between IBA and Framatome, will collaborate on US production of astatine-211, an alpha-emitting isotope being studied for targeted alpha therapy. They announced the deal on October 19, 2026. The first IBA alpha-beam cyclotron will be installed at Telix's RLS Radiopharmacies site in Trevose, near Philadelphia. The parties may add more RLS sites as demand grows. The deal gives Telix long-term, priority access to the isotope for its alpha therapy pipeline, including TLX102-Tx, a candidate for glioblastoma and leptomeningeal disease. It will also supply third-party academic and industry programmes. Astatine-211 is promising, but limited production capacity has held back wider use.

Three Australian growth stocks with insider backing: PDI Gold, Telix and Codan

Simply Wall St has picked three Australian growth stocks with high insider ownership: PDI Gold, Telix Pharmaceuticals, and Codan. The screen favours fast growers that can handle higher costs as US inflation keeps interest rate risks in focus. PDI Gold (market cap A$4.3 billion) runs the Kiniéro Gold Mine in Guinea. Its reliance on oxide ore could lift costs and squeeze margins once that phase ends. Telix Pharmaceuticals (A$5.3 billion) develops radiopharmaceutical imaging agents and cancer therapies. Its imaging products brought in $803.8 million (USD) in the 2025 financial year, and growth hinges on its late-stage pipeline. Codan (A$11.4 billion) makes radio communications systems and metal detectors. Rising defence spending and demand for unmanned systems are expanding its order book.
