Requirements
  • Five or more years of experience in electrical design, product development, manufacturing, or VDC prefabrication environments.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with field and fabrication exposure.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical duties, including sitting frequently and occasionally kneeling, reaching, stooping, crouching, crawling, lifting files, bending, standing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of custom electrical components, modular assemblies, and prefabricated solutions using Revit, Inventor, or similar tools.
  • Drive design innovation with an emphasis on fabrication simplicity, ease of installation, and system maintainability.
  • Review and interpret construction documents, electrical schematics, and structural plans to align detailed models with project goals.
  • Perform technical audits of existing designs and recommend enhancements for buildability and field value.
  • Act as a design lead and point of contact for field teams to align installation strategies and prefabrication opportunities.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings, constructability reviews, and coordination discussions with field leaders and project managers.
  • Conduct site or shop visits as needed to gather feedback and implement improvements based on field use.
  • Support training and mentorship of junior designers or technicians on best practices, standards, and workflows.
  • Lead concept development and research and development efforts for new prefabrication solutions from prototyping through pilot implementation.
  • Evaluate new materials, manufacturing methods, and tooling processes to enhance performance and reduce cost.
  • Influence long-term design strategy and help standardize modular products across multiple project types.
  • Maintain awareness of construction trends, industry technologies, and emerging prefabrication strategies.
  • Prepare and review detailed shop drawings, fabrication instructions, and assembly guides.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials, material take-offs, and equipment schedules for fabrication planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and internal quality standards.
  • Track design revisions and versioning to maintain accurate records and document control.
Desired Qualifications
  • A two-year degree in electrical construction, electrical design for construction, or a similar field.
  • Welding knowledge and basic comprehension of metallurgy.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
  • Understanding of prefabrication, electrical systems, installation methods, National Electrical Code requirements, and related practices.
