Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a CNC machine shop.
- A deep understanding of how corrective and preventive actions produce mistake-proof processes (Poka-Yoke).
- Thorough knowledge of quality-system tools, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), control plans, process flow, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and capability studies.
- Knowledge of lean problem-solving tools and techniques, including A3, 8D, and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA).
- A deep understanding of blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in an AS9100- and NADCAP-certified environment.
- Ability to generate standard operating procedures and follow them for all tasks performed.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a CNC machine shop.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time to customer or vendor sites.
Responsibilities
- Develop sampling plans, quality standards, and process-control instructions for manufacturing use in monitoring and reducing defects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development using APQP Core Tools to identify and prevent defects before production.
- Monitor internal nonconformances and customer complaints; execute containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions as needed.
- Support Quality Technicians with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming using Calypso software and inspect parts on the CMM.
- Review data packs, schedule source audits, and lead customer source audits.
- Contribute to continuous quality-improvement and cost-reduction programs.
- Serve as an internal auditor, perform quality-process audits for compliance, and lead teams in developing corrective actions for audit nonconformances.
- Support product manufacturing, process engineering, and new product introduction, including analysis of process flows, manufacturing methods, and new procedures.
- Implement in-line inspection at CNC machines; validate machine setups, first article inspections, and sample inspections; drive Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) scrap to 0%.
- Complete first article, sample, and final inspections on manufactured products against customer requirements using calibrated equipment.
- Implement and manage Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Provide guidance to the Quality Team on time management, technical details, and proper calibration.
- Support and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) data implementation; analyze the data and recommend improvements to product quality and quality processes.
- Work with the Quality and Safety Manager to provide feedback and recommendations for quality-team training opportunities and employee performance.
- Execute responsibilities according to lawful and ethical company policies and procedures.
- Provide support to other departments as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Perform other assigned or requested duties.
